They also cut our ability bar, we went from a 8 skill bar for pc and a 4x4 skill bar for xbox and Playstation. And now we only have 3 skills at a given time.

EA has been killing BioWare since the moment they bought them. They started forcing Frostbite on them and forcing them to make games ''for everyone'', DA4 is just the end result. BioWare no longer exists and it would be surprising if they don't get layouts after this fiasco. They'll maybe survive a few more years until they finish the new ME but after that they're done for sure if ME5 is not a crazy hit. I've been enjoying their games since 1998 but this is not my favourite studio I grew up loving. Nothing lasts for ever 🤷‍♂

I feel exactly the same way towards Bethesda's FO and ES. I realized all of their stuff will still have that same lucrative branding but nothing else left that really made me love those games. I didn't hate DA2 or DAI. I liked them enough but didn't hate them or anything, it is in the crushing disappointment I guess, that makes me ever use the word hate for Biowares modern releases. I have beenn going back in forth for a while with I can only perceive as younger fans who feel the opposite as myself towards the DA:VG trailer. They seem to write it off as needed changes to an aging franchise and pretty much everything the devs have come out and explained away the new light hearted Overwatch/Fortnite direction. Maybe I'm just getting too old and dislike change as ageing tends to do to people. However I don't see a problem with their older library of games such as Jade Empire or KOTAR or Baldur's Gate or DAO or ME even. One thing they all had in common was really interesting and or charming characters along with clever and witty writing with a solid (origina)l story and villains. ME Andromeda DA2 and DAI had some of that, but seems to be less and less of that kind of creativity and more generic filler and time sinks. I did enjoy DAI but oh shit was that filled with a lot of garbage to sift through to get to the good stuff. and I can't trust these new devs on the "needed changes" to DA"VG. I've never seen such a tonal shift in the world and it's characters like they did to a (Direct sequel) This reeks of more of a reboot like Saints Row had, then a full fledged sequel.

Origins is perfection. This must be said first. To me, the arcade-y feeling we see on Veilguard can be traced back even to the second game. It was already too arcade-y imo. I sort of enjoyed the game, but it was pretty far away from Origins. As for Inquisition, this was even worse for me. I tried playing it twice and it didn't really grab me. To me, the "pause" mechanism to control your group felt really forced, and it really felt like they want you to play it more like an action game and not an rpg.

Troubled development.. didn't they call it "Bioware magic" a few years ago? I was a Bioware fan as well, but at this point I hope they'll get axed by EA after Veilguard releases and fails. The reasoning behind that is the hope that other studios and publishers will learn some lessons from it. Dragon Age: DEI-Guard - Fortnite Edition was set up to fail from the start. It's not a game developed for gamers, not a game developed for their own fan-base. It's a game developed for these weirdos at Polygon and Kotaku HQ.

I preordered and played the first three Dragon Age games. THIS one... hard pass. Dragon Age always had progressive creators but were able to (mostly) avoid politics to appeal to all. The only silliness was the idea that sexuality was not considered a big deal in that world despite the reality that heterosexual marriages is needed to breed enough people in a mostly agrarian economy. It really started to turn in DA:I when they took a cool character like Dorian and made his personal story "I'm gay and my daddy hates that!" It made the Quanari, who forced people into pre-defined roles based on their gender (like women cannot be warriors) SUDDENLY accepting of transgendered characters. Then they followed up with a completely gay cast in the Netflix Dragon Age: Absolution, include a male on male kiss. It must have worked so well since there has never been a sequel. Now we have black elves, Asian elves. peg-legged characters, and ugly female leads to avoid that "toxic male gaze" (forgetting that some women ALSO like beautiful women whether sexually or merely ascetically). And, it's "inherently queer" according to its "queerosexual gendermancer" director. Bioware NEEDS this game to succeed; the last true hit they had was DA:I. But they went DEI and now they are DOA.

I know for a fact this weird shift is the top brass wanting this to be for a "new" (younger) crowd, hence the goofy apex legends character reveal and very looter shooter gameplay. Fucking stupid. Once upon a time, being picked up by a big company seemed like the dream - until you realize that corporate paycheck is gonna make you change your game to make the CEO/shareholders happy and "maximize" the money possible - which we know to the non-gamer top brass its making the game super simple, stripped, and unnecessarily woke af. The combat looks more like Forspoken/God of War - it's so sad they swapped out DA:O combat for some generic action game slop (but that's the trend these days right, same nonsense with the FF7 remake). Guessing the characters will also be DEIdogwater judging from the awful 'I'm so quirky' style trailer they released (again Forspoken vibes). Really not holding much hope for this game.

I agree with 95% of what you said - with one exception. It's easy to blame EA, but at the end of the day EA only wants money. And who is to blame for Veilguard being a disaster? It's Corinne Busche - queer game director from Bioware who decided all characters will be pansexual. We will also check as much DEI boxes as possible (not even a single female is attractive - as straight dude you can pick from dwarf lady, black mage without leg, goofy asian lady without an arm and T(r)ash - Quunari who I'm not even sure identifies as female. It doesn't help that gameplay looks nothing like old DA games. And the visuals? Don't even get me started. After watching the character introduction trailer - If no one told me the title of the game - I'd say we're looking at a new Fortnite expansion or maybe some Marvel ripoff. And they are angry at fans - because they don't vibe with the new direction. You go to the same pizzeria for years and order Pepperoni. One day instead of pizza they bring you veggies and blame you for not liking what's on the plate. If you have veggies - call it fkin veggies, we ordered pizza. Bottom line - Fk DEI, fk this game, fk Corrine Busche. I hope Bioware (or at least it's woke part) go under and make space for game devs who understand their audience. That’s because lately I think way too many designers are focused on games THEY want to play, instead of focusing on games their audience want to play. And that's a recipe for disaster.

Even though it was a pretty decent game despite the loud complaining and if you pretend it's not ME, Mass Effect Andromeda was the beginning of the end for Bioware. I don't think they've gotten a game quite right since and have definitely shown the EA influence with making games for the LCD instead of the fans of great rpgs.

That's what broke me. Couldn't finish it. Inquisition had it's faults, but at least it was immersive enough. The lore rich world of DA with good character animations, story and voice acting (I mean Varric alone... come on) were tipping the scales completely for me against the counter balance of changes they made to gameplay, combat and etc.

The game was called Dread Wolf NOT because it was "all about Solas" (dumbasses) It was because they were BUILDING up Solas as the next big bad Anti-Hero/Antagonist. Jesus, how hard is that to get??? Dragon Age Inquisition, just like Mass Effect Andromeda was also created with Frostbite which gave the lots of trouble because this engine isn't meant for RPGs. That's why the menu structure in both those games were shit, for example. Dragon Age Failguard has tons of issues as well (Including DEI stuff) but I do wonder if the way they presented this game will attract a broader audience to the point that their sales will at least be good at the start.

I dunno why it bugs me to see when in this trailer that DEI hire mage reminds me of the special kid in the class and glued a piece of cardboard box to the side of her head If they spent less time on romances and more on gameplay it might be tolerable. I expected Dragon Age to move more toward action after reading another DA site's comments asking for something akin to Dragon's Dogma, but in so doing, Bioware has to make the system fun... and the AI competent. Can they do that in time for release? Inquisition's action wasn't much fun. And I don't mind the art style; it looks like an expansion of the colors and style of Inquisition. But what might kill the game? I'll just say it's the same thing that makes me think Witcher 4 is going to be a "three letter" train wreck. Oh well... back to play Origins again.

It depends... are you looking for OP builds or to have fun? Archers are OP in the first since it's combat is quite.... dated. Combat in 2 is my favorite by far. Just don't be an archer and you will be fine. Force mages are amazing, atk spd 2 handers as well, Twin Fang rogues are great... DA3 is 2014's GOTY. Meaning 2014 was an awful year for gaming. Love the (majority of) characters, hate combat with all my strength. As a trilogy, society itself is very anti-mage and especially anti-elf/Dalish. Roleplaying mages in the first two games is quite interesting.

ME: Andromeda has some pretty slick combat and it was a decent game once the bugs were addressed. Also, it felt like a nice return to the more open worlds of Mass Effect 1 while making their exploration more central to the plot BUT, yeah the wiring wasn't great, the enemy very uninspired, and most of the characters were only fair. Apparently the boss fights were great because they repeated it 5 times?!?!? The biggest sin though was the lack of imagination; we have a new canvas in a whole new galaxy but it never felt truly alien as it needed to be.
