Good to know about the egg food thing. I'm going to have to make adjustments there.

Same here. I add it dry in a cup. They eat it but mixing it with wet might help.

They love it when its a bit moist only bad part about doing this is you have to toss out what they dont eat by the end of the day but when given is small amounts they have little to no waste
@ActinOut2 жыл бұрын
I occasionally give it moistened but they don't eat much of it and, you're right, I have to throw a bunch away because of it. That's why I was giving it dry, but I usually put a few smaller sized mealworms in with it along with a bit of commercially dehydrated mealworm and mix it all up. Helps the live mealworms last a bit longer too and I can leave it for few days. Dont want them to get fat though and now I've got some potential direction on why my egg fertility rate seems low. I think I'm going to try to just give a lot lower amounts of egg mix in my mixture. I'm not in a position to put out sprouted seeds daily, only once or twice per week. I usually do as stated here and throw a bit into the egg mix noted above. I've just got to cut back on the amount of dry egg food I put in there because was using that as the primary base of my mix. Always good info here.

i get many eggs from my gouldens, but when they hatch, they don't take care of chicks. toss them or don't feed them.
@changcoua082 жыл бұрын
Breeding older or mature gouldians help. Also getting your stock from bred gouldian not foster helps a bunch. Also make sure to offer all the seeds veggies eggfood they can eat even if they don't eat the greens or eggfood.

Goulds can be a pain sometimes! The best success ive had has been with pairs that are in their 2nd breeding season usually by then they are 2yrs old or so and these tend to be better parrents but even so you may have pairs where the males just interested in mating again and tosses the chicks. Try to keep your male busy add things to the cage that will ocupy him also make sure to give eggfood and sprouted seeds before chicks hatch and throught the rest of the time while they have chicks so the parents feel like theres enough food to keep them alive otherwise they can toss or abandon.

@koolone37912 жыл бұрын
Your doing something wrong. You need to put a divder between cages. You don't want the pairs looking at the other pairs you want them to concentrate on there partner. Try it I guarantee you will produce more chics.
@paradiseaviary2 жыл бұрын
100% agree with you back in the day with my old setup I used to block the sides so pairs couldnt see the next door neighbor but with this new one its all open but trust me been thinking about a way to do that same exact thing
