Excellent photography. Nothing wrong in this set-up. It does not harm the birds in any way. Keep on Alan. Great photography!

Thank you so much. New sub. Like your entire KZbin home site. I will be watching all. Fell in love with birds four years ago. I got a decent camera and have been learning about birds ever since. Now it's time to get better with the camera. Thanks.

I'm so amazed!! It was very interesting to catch a glimpse of how you set up and the number of bird species that 'took part'. Your blurring or muting of the background makes your work very distinctive Alan. Allows the bird's image to jump off the page! Ya, I'm a Fan!

Brilliant job both with the photography and the video. I especially like the ending where the bird lands on the flyer with the workshop info. Great shots! I teach wildlife photography up in north Texas (DFW area).

Alan Murphy that was just INCREDIBLE. I'm grinding my teeth with jealousy! I use a Canon Powershot SX60HS and I get some pretty amazing photos but the shots I like best are the 'on the wing' photos. More! More!

I visited Angeles National forest a few days ago. Believe it or not, i saw more birds (prettier ones) in my back yard lol. Anyway some of us don't have time or the chance to go out all the time (i have a 9 month old) looking for birds so setting up something like this in the yard is a great idea. you have beautiful photos and thank you for posting this video. I'll try to take pics. of birds in their natural environment but when i can't the backyard is just as great.

Hi.. I'm a beginner in photography and on a tight budget. Can you suggest a good Nikon camera and lense under $800. Looking for one with a decent zoom/mm, very good in low light, good no of clicks per second etc. since I want to start my wildlife photography using the camera I buy. Please keep that in mind and help me out.

beautiful!!! nice to see others using the video-still technique with birds :) wish we had outdoor lighting. we have to freeze wings indoors--and shoot into light *sigh* we now have a friend with parrots that fly outdoors all the time, and you are tempting us to do another video with embedded stills--but outside this time. unfortunately, we have several other unrelated, not-yet-finished videos to do first. so, we'll have to come back and enjoy yours again when we are ready to be motivated :p

It's called 'destroying the mystery' ... It's a good video. It's great setup. They're fantastic shots. But many don't know how very many bird shots are taken this way, and who out there loves a card trick as much if the performer shows you the method and simple it was. This is the man behind the curtain, the Great and Powerful Oz. ;)

Photography is an art form, and like any art it is how the artist intended you to see the final shot. I think those that are saying this is baited, fake, staged etc, do you ever manipulate a digital shot in any software? as soon as you do you are excluding real life, its not how it seems. Getting birds to come to you in this manner does not interfere with nature, they get a free meal. You could take a picture of a twig and superimpose a bird on it from a photoshop library, but that would be fake, wouldn't it?

Please help a bro out! How do I know I got the focus right? It's hard to see on the miniscreen. I might have 100 pics with the bird out of focus? To deal with this, I pause and zoom into a photo to see if I got it right but then when I look up my target is gone. I wish I had a zoomed in rectangle in the corner of my viewport to constantly show me my focus
