The Green Jay (Cyanocorax yncas) is a bird species of the New World jays, which exhibits distinct regional variations within its large but discontinuous range. This stretches from southern Texas south into Mexico and Central America, with a break before the species reappears in a broad sweep across the highlands (primarily the Andes) of South America in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia. It has been suggested that the North American taxa should be considered separate species, Cyanocorax luxuosus. If following this taxonomy, the northern species retains the common name Green Jay, while the South American population, which retains the scientific name C. yncas, is renamed the Inca Jay. I think Inca Jays are considered a separate species from the Green Jay now. Easiest way to tell - eye color! Beautiful corvid!

I follow Clements and they regard it as a subspecies, but I agree that the IOC and ebird regard it as a separate species.

Many birds in Texas scream. Blue Jay, Mocking Bird, Green Jay - Grackles. Grackles are horrible.

Hi! Thanks so much for the video. I am an artist and I am about to paint a green jay. If it comes out well I want to do a live on instagram of that painting. When I do this I will be commenting on some facts about the bird and would like to have the sound available to play. What I was hoping was that I would record this, just the sound, and play it for everyone. I would credit you in the comments of the reel that comes from that live and mention you in the live itself.
