This was a great reminder of 2 ecological conservation expeditions we did to Ecuador (although not the same region focus, ours was the dry forest in the SW). Mindo was one of our first stops and recall being absolutely blown away by glistening-green tanagers. Thank you for putting this up. Must return some time. PS - please go vegan everyone - many of the Neotropical forests are being decimated due mainly to ranching / soya for animal feed in our countries. Plus the terrible treatment of farm animals, health issues associated with high consumption of animal products including covid outcomes and animal agriculture and lust for meat being the main causes of pandemics in the last 100 years. And the fisheries collapsing and major proportion of plastic in oceans coming from fishing nets. We are going over a cliff and everyone needs to get on board to prevent total catastrophe. Let's ensure kindness to all animals as well as humans.

very nice well made video.....small correction at 15;30min it is an orange-bellied Euphonia not a thick billed
@GregBaker572 жыл бұрын
I’ve checked the footage Eric and you are correct. Not sure why I’ve called it Thick-billed in the commentary as my notes say Orange-bellied. Thanks

@@GregBaker57 was just being an ass..... your videos are amazingly well made and provide a ton of info for a hardcore birder or amateurs willing to visit Ecuador. Let me know when in Mindo next so we can have a coffee together....cheers all my regards

@42:11 just a heads up audio says "fawn breasted tanager" (which is correct) but the text says "fawn breasted brilliant." Amazing video by the way - just visited Mindo myself and wish I saw all the species you documented.

@@GregBaker57 Los errores de edición son muy molestos, también los he tenido, pero la intención es la que cuenta, muy bonita la serie de videos de Ecuador.

Do you mean Yellow-margined Flycatcher at 34:03? I'd not familiar with Ecuadorian birds, but would be interested to hear.
@GregBaker57 Жыл бұрын
This is Tolmomyias flavotectus, called Yellow-margined Flatbill or Yellow-winged Flycatcher and not Yellow-margined Flycatcher (Tolmomyias assimilis). Some taxonomies do lump them as Yellow-margined Flycatcher however.

Greg video Greg, may I ask what equipment you use to film with?
@GregBaker573 жыл бұрын
I currently use a Panasonic GH5 with a Leica 100-400mm lens, although this was filmed with a GH4 but with same lens.

I didn’t know, that there exist a Quetzal wannabe - the Trogon 😊 How does future look like for these birds in Equador? I lived in Paraguay in the 80’ies. There, millons of years of evolution has been replaced by glyphosat resistant soybeans
@jorgebadiola52733 ай бұрын
why in Ecuador all the name of the birds are in english?? This is suspicious.
