While I missed the NIligiri Sholakili and the NIlgiri thrush from the high altitudes of the Niligiris, I got to see a lot of other endemics.
In video:
1) The Niligiri laughingthush eating on some fruit, found it an unexpected habitat, we spent 2 hours looking for it at dense forest area and found it in openlands.
2) The Nilgiri pipit, mom found it out of the blue on the side of a busy road.
3) The beautiful male Kashmir flycatcher, well known winter migrant to the Nilgiris.
4) Streak throated woodpecker male, a long pending lifer.
5) The great hornbill, amazing to watch this couple moving about.
6) The massive Legge's hawk eagle, what an unexpected lifer and we saw it twice, once while gliding over the hill and the next time perched, where we managed close views.
7) House sparrows sand bathing, quite abundant even at high altitudes, giving company to the the blackbirds and laughingthrushes.
