I travelled around the country for 5 weeks to film these birds. Places I visited (among others): San José, Savegre Lodge in San Gerardo de Dota; Selva Verde Lodge in Sarapiquí, Donde Cope in Guapiles; Rancho Naturalista, Villa Lapas Hotel in Carara NP, Quepos and Manuel Antonio NP, Puerto Jimenez, and Las Cruces Biological Station in San Vito

Never knew costa rica had such a variety of birds. Love the blue one. Ihave white canary who has a bath every day. A rosy coloured one who is eyecatching. They love bananas

독특하고 예쁜새를 처음봐요. 야생숲에서 바나나를 먹고 있는 것을 보니 신기해요. 야생 식물의 열매가 새모이군요. 다양하고 예쁜 새도 많네요. 파파야도 잘 먹네요. 열대우림에 사는 새들인것 같네요. 열대과일을 먹고 있는 것을 보니 하와이에 살면서 산책나갔다가 새들이 파파야와 망고 , 바나나와 작은 열매들을 먹고 있는 것을 본 적이 있어요. 해마다 봄철이 되면 앵무새종류가 때지어 날아오는데 아카시아열매 비슷한 콩과종류 열매를 먹고 있는 것이 신기했던 적이 있어요. 물가에 다양한 종류의 새들이 있었는데 어느날 아주 큰 회색의 큰새가 큰 물고기를 잡아먹고 있는 것도 볼 수 있어 즐거웠어요. 집 근처에 수로가 있는데 물고기들이 아주 많거든요. 멀지 않은 곳에 바다가 있어서 바닷물고기와 민물고기가 자유로이 이동하는 것처럼 보였어요. 그래서 새들에게 나무숲과 습지가 있는 연못이나 호수, 강이나 바다가 필요한 것을 알게 되었어요. 그리고 특정식물만 먹고 있는 새들도 있다는 것을 알게되어 만일 그 나무들이나 풀, 씨앗등이 사라지면 새들이 먹이를 찾아 이동한다는 것도 알게 되었어요. 독특하고 아름다운 새소리들이 생존방식이라는 것을 알게 되어 기뻐요. 다양한 새소리를 들을 수 있는 것은 그 많큼 환경이 좋고 먹거리가 풍부하다는 뜻일거예요.

There is something a bit magical about seeing so many birds at once and still noticing their individual beauty in color and voice and behavior. Costa rica is for serious morning people only! If you do not like to be woken up at or before sunrise ( 4amish) by the sound of millions of birds all singing a different tune and other animals shrieking than i dont recommend this as a vacation spot! With so many birds remember comes many insects! Expect bugs! Expect noise even cancelation head phones won't cancel out! Its my personal fav for travel and the people are amazingly polite and remind me of home! I prefer to stay with a local family bed and breakfast, as i can hang with canadians and americans every day back home- plus this way you see the real nation, not the tourist trap approved tour, sanitized for your approval! Thank you for this wonderful video! I havent been able to visit for a few years due to health, but i am calling my travel agent and booking something for February 2020!!

Sadly covid began and i have not left my island...my bikini bags are stuffed and packed, I am ready to go! Years ago ( 1986) we flew back from Costa Rica and brought back 2 large machete in our carry on luggage. I had them crossed through the mesh on the outside of my backpack. No one said anything nor was I harrased by the Stewart...today you can't even bring knitting needles or even a crochet hook on board! Times have certainly changed

THe White-throated Magpie Jay is the opening shot of my Mexico video. I have seen the Manakin but the Bellbird is my nemesis bird. I have been 6 times to Costa Rica but always dipped it
