@spicyuterus16505 жыл бұрын
Hey you’re not late at all, welcome to the party :p Kuzco definitely chews on the mesh and has made holes in it. That said, my last Sherpa carrier lasted five years before he was able to chew on it enough that I was concerned about him getting out. It’s very durable. I also keep snacks and a toy in there to help distract him so he doesn’t chew. We’ve done 13 hour flights (with layovers) and he was unable to chew through it. Your lovebird will probably be just fine on the flight. If you haven’t already, take him out in his carrier for a couple smaller trips locally, even just a walk or a drive down the road. If he’s used to the carrier, he’ll see it as a safe space during the flight. During the actual flight, I usually leave kuzco partially covered, just because it’s draft under the seats where the carriers go. But I keep my hand down where he can see me during takeoff and landing and he’s just fine :)

He’s made the occasional chirp, but planes are soooo loud. I don’t think anyone even noticed. You cannot open the carrier to refill water in the plane, which is why I always recommend fill up before you board. That said, your bird is very unlikely to drink an entire water dish on a plane.

@spicyuterus16504 жыл бұрын
Running Deer there are no bird passports, but you will need different permits and paperwork depending on where you’re flying to. I’m not from the US, so I can’t confidently walk you through that process, but a good place to start would be looking at import requirements to the US and then checking with your airline to see what their rules are for allowing animals in the cabin.

Hello! I’m going from Argentina to Canada and I’m traveling with my two lovebirds, however they are not tamed. By that I mean they don’t stand on my finger, so what can I do when I have to go through security? Also, I really like that bird carrier, can you please tell me what size you got and if the one you have has enough space for two lovebirds? Looking forward for a reply, hope I’m not to late. Love your video!!❤️
@spicyuterus16505 жыл бұрын
As far as the carrier, you need to check your airline’s restrictions on animals in the cabin. Most airlines have a policy allowing only one animal per carrier in the cabin. If your birds are not tame, you will still need to remove them when you go through security if you plan on taking them in the cabin. You can request a private search room, which will allow you to help keep them contained while the carriers are scanned. Flying lovebirds internationally can get a bit difficult because a number of species are on the CITES list, which means they face a number of restrictions when travelling internationally. Also, most countries, Canada included, will quarantine birds arriving internationally for about a month. Can you get me some more info on how you’re travelling, what species they are, and whether or not you have permits?
@kale68535 жыл бұрын
They are two lovebirds. I’m planning on taking them with me because I don’t have anyone that knows how to take care of birds, also because I’m staying in Canada for 4 or 5 months. I’m traveling with Air Canada. Also, what size carrier do you have? Thanks for the reply!
@kale68535 жыл бұрын
Also, they don’t have permits and they haven’t flight before
@spicyuterus16505 жыл бұрын
Okay so air canada does not allow birds in the cabin. So, if they are allowed on the plane, they will have to fly as checked baggage, in which case, you will require a hard sided carrier. You cannot fly animals internationally without the proper documentation, they will be seized and potentially euthanized. Additionally, air canada does not take animals in cargo year round because it gets quite cold in the fall/winter. You need to check Canada’s importation laws for your species of lovebird, as well as contact air canada. There are fees and regulations for taking animals on planes, you cannot just arrive at the airport with them. For example, Kuzco is a Fischer’s lovebird, which is on the CITES list. The simple version of that means he cannot easily fly internationally. Even if your species isn’t on that list, they still require documentation, permits, and will be quarantined at customs for up to a month. It’s not easy or cheap to bring birds internationally, and while I definitely understand your concerns about leaving them for so long, even if you get lucky and they’re not on the CITES list, flying them cargo and then quarantining them when they’re not tame would, in my opinion, be much more stressful for them.

I will be traveling out of the country (USA to Japan) and I am very scared of what will happen to my bird, as she is only close with me and I’m scared she will resort to plucking over the 3 month span I am gone. Have you flown over seas with him? And I’m scared she may become talkative and annoy overs, do you think that would be a problem? I just am worrying a lot for her haha.
@spicyuterus16505 жыл бұрын
Flying overseas with a bird is difficult and actually impossible for a lot of species, unfortunately. Import laws vary by country. Because parrots are not domesticated and exist in the wild, in order to import one, even temporarily, you typically need proof of purchase that they came from a breeder and were not wild-caught. You would also need a certification of health from a local registered avian vet and your bird would likely still be subject to a mandatory quarantine (usually 30 days, but again, depends on the country) on arrival. Most importantly, before considering importing your bird, you need to check and see if her species is on the CITES list. If she is, she cannot be imported. What's your plan for while you're away? Who will be looking after her? Is it someone she knows?
