You need to tell the complete story (So far) of FFVII, in chronological order. Remake is actually a Requel but not of FFVII... basically the theory so far till confirmed, is that Sepheroth goes back in time to mess up shit, causing remake.

Having to choose between Jesse, Tifa, Aereth was probably one the hardest decision in a game. Jesse has an uplifting personality, but Tifa is your first love, yet Aerith is so pure and full of life.

So, I'm playing through FF7R for the first time. Never played the original. I'm probably halfway through Chapter 14 now. One of the things that I'm a little surprised / slightly confused by is at the beginning. I was under the impression that Jessie's bomb was actually just effective enough to damage or break the reactor, and that Shinra only destroyed Sector 1's facility as a sort of "make the best of a bad situation" move, to make Avalanche look bad. Did the bomb actually fail? It seems odd that they would destroy the facility after such a non-threat.

originally it goes off but doesnt do nearly enough dmg to cause what happened, so instead shinra does more dmg to make avalanche look bad, similar to to an incident you may see or have seen after the DON incident where the president makes another large call that ends up doing similiar if not MORE dmg. the president is using these claims that the Wu tai are involved as to spark another war something you're not inherently given info in the original until much later and in some cases may not even be apart of your experience unless you find yuffie which is completly optional and hidden. in this rendition theyve opted to make it a core part of the game/story

This was another terrible change to the story. In the original game, the bomb destroys the reactor. Full stop. Not Shinra. They were literally terrorists. The remake attempts to make Avalanche squeeky clean by claiming the bomb was not designed to destroy the reactor, but only disable it. This change completely ruin's Barret's story arc because eventually he has a moment late in the game where he comes to grips with all the people he hurt because of his actions. If you want a flashy padded out experience with amazing visuals and anime noises, play the remake. If you want Final Fantasy VII, go play the original

I was looking forward to this game for years and was so excited to finally play it and I was so happy with the beginning and as I played I started seeing the changes and I started liking it less and less until the end when I realized they butchered my favorite game. I was so let down by this it infuriated me to the point I wish they didn't even release it

The story of the game is actually closer to OG than you might think. The devs have confirmed again and again that the main plot will remain the same but they added some new scenarios and mysteries to enhance, not change, the story so that it doesn’t get boring for us OG fans by it being just 1:1. I hope you’ll give it another shot, especially with Rebirth dropping this Winter. If you think about it, our gang is still on the same trajectory and nothing major has changed. I have faith the devs will reconcile the mystery of Zack and squash all the wild theories that have come out with all the wild timey-wimey things going on. They said Remake does not contradict the end of Crisis Core. After all, even the OG had a lot of red herrings to throw the player off and surprise us so I think they’re doing that this time around, too. Regardless, I hope it will become something for you to enjoy later once it’s all laid out. The journey is unknown but the destination will be the same.

And I have heard them say the overall story won't change but that ending of the first game was absolutely awful I know they say the ghosts aren't going to be there anymore but in the story they setup the ghosts were meant to keep the story inline with the original but then being gone means they can change things and they did say they were changing things with the overall being close.

But for me personally I loved the start and as it got further into the game things started changing from the original story that didn't need to not out of a need to flush out the story but to outright change it. Then at the end they completely lost whatever thread they were trying to connect it to the original game and we were left with that monstrosity. I can't call it a good game. It's a pretty game and the game play was sometimes enjoyable but mostly it missed every mark.

talking about original ps game. If this game has defaults they are completely overshadowed by its amazing qualities. I am not sure this story would make a good book but when you actually play the game you are just captivated by it. It has a lot to do with charisma of main protagonists, immersive world, cool plot twists, great gameplay.... list goes on. Sephiroth aura is just palpable; to this day I don t think I have seen a videogame antagonist as impressive as him. The only issue is square trying to milk it for all it's worth but that has nothing to do with the game itself. Did not like the remake by the way.

I think my biggest issue with the remake's story is it wants to put a "spin" on a story we know already - but there is a "how many times can you tell the same story before it becomes annoying"? *looking at Dragon Ball Z to Super games whilst Bandai ignores OG Dragon Ball* But anyways, I feel it'd have been better to tell the original story, but I can understand why they wouldn't. I just hope for the FF8 Remake, they make the story easier to digest and explain the "time loop" of Squall setting his own destiny in stone.

@@juliuscasar7202 The enemy scaling isn't bad though? Monsters get just as strong as you do - and that means aside from magic like meteor, comet and ultima, you aren't really having trouble. It'd be silly just to make the characters overpowered to the point literally there is no challenge, I'd feel.

Yeah, the draw system is ass, but it's best way to increase your stats as you level up - though of course you can always card enemies (an ability) to not gain exp and low level run with squall since he's one the main factors in enemy and joining party members levels really.

Unpopular Opinion but FF8 sucked ass. For me it was WAY TOO EASY. Story was kinda eh, seemed pretty basic plot to me. Not terrible but nothing creative. Characters were just not hitting for me. And the whole time I kept thinking "Wtf is going on this just feels weird and disjointed". FF7 has arguably a way more complicated story but managed to tell it in a way that was exciting, fun, and could follow easily thanks to characters like Barret and Areith kinda explaining stuff to you at points. FF8 is just a worse version of FF10 but I know Im in the minority people love 8 for some reason.
