My heart goes out to you. I had to rehome my two Congo African Grey parrots. I had raised them from day nine.I had their parents, which I also had to rehome. My reason for all this is that I became very sick, &hospitalized for all of 2023. I am also 86 years old. I fell head over heels in love with parrots in 1991. At that time I came down with pneumonia which left me with CFS(chronic fatigue syndrome) which I still have. My age was not a problem, being sick was the problem .Losing my birds broke my heart & left me with severe depression. Presently I only have one. Cockatiel.My Grey parrots spoke fluent English and were very affectionate. I also had a Sun Conure who is no more. As I said My heart goes out to you, & understand your pain. I love your channel & family. My Cockatiel is healthy thanks to you & your feed system.❤😊

I remembered that you briefly mentioned that she passed but wondered why you didn't go into much detail. I assumed that maybe the pain was too much at that time and it really wasn't our business to pry. I personally don't like talking about my grief openly with friends, so I get it. Thanks for sharing this with us. It is always hard to lose a pet. I have dogs and birds. It never gets easier. I find that every new death reopens the wound of the previous one. So, it's double the grief.

Awwww Cressi is so sweet! ❤ I woke up this morning to a dream that turned really scary. I dreamed that my grey choked on water and it seemed like he was gone, but I was able to save him and he held my finger. It was so wonderful to wake up to him saying "are you okay?". ❤. ......I'm okay as long as he is. Upon waking up more, I was thinking about how I wish there was a bird first aid course I could take. There are so many things that could go wrong that could need an immediate remedy. I know a lot about human health, but I'm afraid that if something went wrong I wouldn't have time to find the answers. I look to you as my most reliable information source, so it seemed very fitting and coincidental to find your care book and this video when I picked up my phone. Thank you for all that you do. ❤ I'm sorry for your double loss. I lost 2 of my grandparents within 4 days in 2007. I know the grief can be extra difficult. I'm glad Deeka's loss was a bit easier for you. I believe that you feel your feelings very deeply like I do. I'm also sorry for your loss of Rocco, I know that was very hard on you. I cry with you, knowing that if I outlive my Coco, that's going to be a terrible awful time for me, but I also don't want him to feel the grief of my death. I hope that we go at the same time. He's my world, and I'm his. ❤

Berry, Rocko, and Detka -- that's A LOT of loss in a very short span of time. My heart goes out to you. Take your time. You're sharing does help, as it reminded I wasn't alone when I lost my Larrybird (budgie) around the same time you (we) lost Berry. it helped me. Thank you. You're helping all kinds of birds, people, and I'm sure, other animals, too.

The guilt. That was overwhelming for me because I lost my dusky conure unexpectedly and was so deep in the grief that I didn't notice my ringneck was off and ended losing her shortly after. They were both the cuddly ones of our flock and that hit us hard. The silence was so loud. Wish I could hug you through the screen. We did the necropsis as well and they were helpful.

As others I appreciate you sharing and being vulnerable so we can learn from your experiences. I would kindly and with all sympathy ask that when other bird owners have a loss please be sensitive to their feelings. Sometimes you can come across as accusatory and demeaning when talking about other bird owners. I don't think you do it on purpose but it can be hurtful in times of loss. I dread the day that may happen to me. I have an African Grey that is 30 years old now (with me the whole time) and would be devastated. Not sure I could find the courage to share as you did. Thank you God Bless

When you take the upsides and gains of opening your heart to people and pets, the inevitable downside is to experience loss too. All your birds had a better life than the near-totality of pet or wild birds. Thanks again for your educational videos, they helped me give a better life to an old-ish macaw who has a busy owner who didn't know how to tame it.

These things are so hard. We always feel like we should have done more and it would be different but sadly, it probably wouldn't be. What Rocco went through just unfortunately highlights how little we truly know about these birds. But you do your absolute best for them, they are happy, loved and have so much enrichment. My cockatoo has only been sick once thank God and he pulled through but it was the worst time in my life and I couldn't make a video talking about it. Thank you for the video and for loving your birds. I'm just so grateful right now that his vet does boarding for your birds if you go away, my galah loves it there, he never wants to come home 😂

Aww Jamie, wish life was more fair, because if it was you would still have Bandit, Rocco, Blueberry and Detka. I’ve been with you for all these years, watching these beautiful babies who lived a great life with a human family that dedicates themselves to the love and care of these feathered friends. I believe if they could choose, they’d pick you all over again as their family. Sorry Detka had to leave, maybe she needed to help Rocco cross over to 🌈Bridge. They are there having a beautiful time while waiting for their family so you can all be together again.❤🕊😇😇😇😇❤🪽

I lost my Mexican Green Conure Jynx 3 weeks ago in a wind accident that had nothing to do with me, my husband had her out like always when a 40 mile an hour wind grabbed her off his shoulder, we tracked and attempted to rescue her 7 times but she was young and didn’t know how to come down from the tree tops. I believe that someone has her or the hawks got her either way it’s been agonizing and I’m so sad. Peace be with you all. ♥️🙏🦜

Don’t stress. Birds are notorious for hiding symptoms. I only have one African grey. I didn’t notice she was sick until really sick. She is stable now but birds are hard to read. Dealing with head of Avian lab at a university told me super easy to overlook things. Birds hide illness for self preservation even when it’s a bird you’ve lived with for 27 years. I’m just enjoying bird and trying to rehab but I’m ready for worst should it come to pass. So sorry for feathered friend loss. 😢

I had the same thing happen to me this year. My blue kakariki was playing and eating her breakfast when I left for work, but when I got back she was already lifeless on the bottom of the cage. We send her body for a necropsy and the vet said it was probably pneumonia. I still can't accept that very well. She had no signs of respiratory distress, no sneezing, she didn't seem tired and was not acting any different. The vet tried to confort me and said it was probably an acute viral infection. My green kakariki was examined and she was just fine. I think it's really hard when we don't have the answers, you're left with nothing but the feeling of "I could have done better".
@AVDB9512 күн бұрын
From what I have heard (I also keep kakariki's) they are more prone to hearth failure compared to other birds. They also live way shorter than simular sized parots. Might have something to do with their fast reproductive rate. If you can have 4 nests with up to 10chick within one year the species doesn't need to be as healthy and long living.

I killed my four budgies by cooking a steak with a brand new pan. Teflon. Just plain stupid. I isolated the event for a few days within myself. I let a few people know, as me being a warning example. Some folks highlighted the Teflon issue as being bad for humans as well. I'm not sure about the science of that.
