Unfortunately most radio stations play what's popular / trendy at the time, which is usually generic charty pop / dance. This produces a cycle of "artists" pumping out music that sounds the same because they all end up copying the trend etc. I like to think that talented artists / lyricists, like Birdy, aren't played on the radio often for the simple reason that they do not cater to the general music trends to try and be popular, but instead produce music that is unique and reflects them so to speak. Hopefully that made sense lol
