Honestly tho, she doesn't need the entire world to recognize her because people like us already do. To me this song is about a fake relationship, where someone puts in so much energy, but it remains unanswered or unsatisfying and the lack of equal investment is driving the relationship to the edge. At the end she puts in so much energy that it breaks her and she ends the relationship. She doesn't communicate anymore with the creature, so it feels like she disappeared to him.
