Many thousands of Jews gathered at the Kotel (the Western Wall) on the 2nd day of Chol HaMoed Pesach 5771 (the intermediate days of the Passover festival of 2011) for Birkat Kohanim (the Priestly Blessing) in accordance with the Torah's commandment in the book of Bamidbar (Numbers) chapter 6 verse 23-27.
The ceremony has become a tradition ever since the liberation of Har HaBayit (the Temple Mount) and the rest of the Old City of Jerusalem during the Six Day War in 1967. It is in commemoration of the Biblical obligation to visit the Holy Temple on the three annual festivals, namely, Pesach (Passover), Shavuot (Pentecost), and Sukkot (Tabernacles).
It is also a special opportunity for many Cohanim (Jews who trace their lineage to Aaron, the first High Priest) to fulfill the Biblical obligation of blessing the nation, and for non-Cohanim to be blessed (also a Biblical obligation, according to some).
It is to be noted that the Western Wall is merely a supportive wall of the Temple Mount in which the Holy Temple itself stood. The holiday prayers emphasize our goal of returning to the Mount, and not to the courtyards around it: "Bring us to Zion Your city with joy, and to Jerusalem, the House of Your Temple, with everlasting happiness... Build Your house as at the beginning, and establish Your Temple on its foundation; show us its construction and gladden us with its rectification... and to there we will ascend and be seen and bow down before You on our three festivals..."

Magnificent prayer of the Cohanim. What touches me deeply is the love of the Cohanim towards others, they protect the eyes of the audience by covering themselves because the Chekhina descends during this prayer on the assembly of the Cohanim. This delicate attention of love touches me infinitely

Possible mistake at 0:21 - 0:23 - not the English, but the original Hebrew - "to bless" should end in a final khaf, not a final nun.

unfortunately these days you have to make the distinction due to many false religions and deities. As a jew we have to follow all of the Torah’s commandments but yes the Lord is G-D of the whole universe and all of its inhabitants and creations.

Shalom! I have posted a similar comment to another of these videos, but I justwould like to do it here again: I am moved in my Spirit and it is true that I really have (nearly always) tears in my eyes when I am listening and watching those prayers. I just have a desire in me to love every single letter of the WORD OF GOD...I desire to love you, Israel, I desire to love you, rest of the world.. every Jew and Gentile...Thank you, living, existing, true God of Abraham, Isaak and Jacob....the 12 tribes of Israel... over the world and Universe... In my heart I want to bless Israel, Jerusalem and the whole world and every nation on Earth, too...thank you... 🇩🇪 🇿🇦 from Siggi😃💙🙂

At first I was confused about why Adonai is also known as Hashem. Later, I learned that Hashem is translated to His name, therefore another name for Adonai is Hashem according to His word. May this blessing be upon the unity of Israel and America forever more. Shalom, and amen 🖖🏽 🙏🏽

Adon=Master,Adonai=our master,Hashem=The Name, the expicit name of G-d is forbidden to say or write anywhere outside the TaNaKH btw the closest thing El,Elohim,Elokim more used name it just generic word meaning "God" in Hebrew.

My wish is that this wonderful and sincere blessing will serve to encourage all peoples - of all faiths and cultures on the planet - to come-together in Peace, and thereby avoid the Cataclysmic world-destroying war, that we will all be destroyed in, with everything we own, if we don't stop hating, fighting and killing each other. Please, all peoples - of all faiths and callings - reserve your judgement, and try to build-bridges with your enemies, and thereby save yourselves and your lovely Blessed families and save the planet from inevitable destruction, if you don't.God Bless everyone, because - you better believe it - Our Creator does, and he makes no exceptions, when showering everyone (irrespective of what faith they belong to), with that love. Gerry George.

@William Gerard Bury your hatred, Dear William, and that example will serve to bring us all nearer to each other. Having worked on the H-Bomb Testing Ground, RAF Christmas Island, until December 4, 1959 - 61 years ago - I am in a position to know how the planet will be destroyed by Thermo-Nuclear War. We are on the brink of *just that* happening now, so I urge you to purge your mind of petty-hatreds, and instead, make a special effort to start loving your neighbour, instead of hating him ! That way will enable all of us to pull-away from the brink of total destruction. God Be With YOU, and all of us unwitting Creatures of our, I suspect, greatly-concerned mutual-Creator.

Christine Moir it is not your average blessing. It is only allowed to be said by the priests of Israel (original descendants of Aaron the high priest of Israel and now their descendants, the white covered group top left corner). It was said on the steps of the temple in Jerusalem during holidays back when it stood (both times) . It is said they became the vessel that brought down his blessings of God upon Israel and the world at that moment in time. It is sacred and ancient.
