This is insane. Do they still race Late Models at this track? Gary Webb and Ray Guss... I grew up watching those guys at a local track. What a throwback! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for comment. Historic dirt track. I remember watching AJ Fight race there when I was a kid. They still race UMP late models once a year. See en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illinois_State_Fairgrounds_Racetrack for more info. Race speeds exceed 100 mph!!!!

No they haven’t raced the late models there for some time now those cars are not built to handle those kind of speeds

They still race modifieds downstate at the mile me personally I think somebody needs to throw out a million dollars. Big risk. Big money 🤷

I was on Ray’s 12 crew back then and always loved going to this track. Had to really secure every panel😳. Cars were stupid fast🤯

Late models in 1998 650hp to 700hp Late models in 2019 875hp to 1000hp. Suspension technology like no other, If present day latemodels ran at a mile. Speeds would be around the 165 plus mark.

This is fast ass speed on dirt...... I once seen a guy hit turn 1 wall when his throttle stuck......... They said it was a 150 mile per hour hit......... He survived and I got to see the mangled car after the race in the pits........ It was no longer a car.............. Not a single saveable piece left.................... I miss the old days.......
