Mostafa Nikouyee Yes I went to this game (I'm a Birmingham Fan) and these 2 teams are based in Birmingham and have a huge rivalry. After Birmingham one all the Blues fans ran onto the pitch and riot police were called in because both teams were throwing chairs and flares at each other. This is the most recent game these two teams have played against each other as well

I've come back to this game after Villa were confirmed to be playing UCL football next season, it's a strange and genuinely sad thing how these century long rivalries are beginning to diverge, Birmingham will be playing Mansfield next season and Villa could well be away at Real Madrid, or the San Siro. Meanwhile Sunderland are fighting tooth and nail to get back up to the Premier League whilst Newcastle, state-owned, are playing back to back European football seasons likely as not. That gulf has existed before, at times, I just worry that these teams will never truly be on a level enough playing field to find that old excitement the derbies brought again, sooner or later anyway. Insane ramblings over, hope to see Birmingham straight back up.
