Three things I'd like to correct, Nhenha and the Nkuhuma Male didn't chase and kill the young sub-adult, it was the Nkuhuma Male who killed her because he is young and aggressive. The PC Males and Birminghams met three times and in all three times, Nhenha stood his ground for a while. The first time, Nhenha was seen following the PC males who chased the Nkuhuma Male. The 2nd time, Nhenha stoof for a little but the Nkuhuma Male ran so he was forced to retreat himself. This time once again, it looks like Nhenha decided to stand by himself and got caught. It's incredible that he actually managed to escape and survive.

Nhenha is MUCH more experienced than Nkuhuma as a coalition male and as a dominant pride male. For most of his life, Nhenha has been a dominant pride male who's had to defend his territory with his coalition of brothers. Nhenha wants to become a dominant pride male again which is why he's more willing to fight those young studs. Nhenha does not want to remain nomadic. By contrast, Nkuhuma has only been the member of a coalition for a short amount of time and has never been a pride male. Nkuhuma has always been nomadic - running around on the outskirts of another male's territory trying to AVOID fights. So Nhenha and Nkuhuma have very different life experiences 🤷‍♀🤷‍♀.

@@auntiez4917 excellent point! I'm shadowing basically what you said, With their age gap, there is a difference with life experience and goals. Nhena being raised with 5 other brothers who fed off each other's strengths, weaknesses & built confidence as a unit. Nku Male didnt have any of that. He hasn't even been with Nhena for how long? Less than a year, not much time at all with what others build in their lifetime, starting as cubs play fighting, learning trust, movements, body language and cues. I can only hope Nhena recovers (Tumbella also) and the two or 3 move somewhere else (still waiting on rangers photos last week of nku and tumbella cuddling?) The B boys really liked the two Xims. Tumbella male also. The Xim girls knew that, they didn't chose pcmales.

the nkuhuma male is a liability it would seem.. the old birmingham male was left to fight alone again and will probably pay the ultimate price. ironically this could seal the young male's own fate as he will then be alone and in hostile territory

@@tomharvey2040 when you said he was left to fight alone again, are u referring to two fights in 12 days? I only know of the 1. My though is Nhenas injuries tell their story. If Nhena were alone with pcmales, they would've snapped his spine. We have Nku males blood and mane on the scene. So he was there. If he had ran & left Nhena alone in the beginning, they would've snapped nhenas spine. So to me, it seems it could only be the pcmales found Nhena, they attacked and Nku male came in, one or both rushed him and gave Nhena a chance to get up,help Nku male and they left. They didn't do too much damage to his leg such as broken bones (some nurses suggested online.)Idk? I'm sure Nku knows where Nhena is resting, I've heard he stole some food from a leopard but pcmales stole that. They didn't attack him again tho? I of course don't know what really happened cause I wasn't there. For all we know, it could've been some of these new boys they fought with, but knowing pcms had it out for them, it prob was pcmales. I don't think it's a surprise to any of us that Nku male did not want to battle pcms. That was Nhenas deal, but as a partner, he should've had more courage or trust? Idk.? I have C-boy and Hildar as my photo, those two were unequally matched in my mind, as C-Boy wanted to fight everyone and Hildar didn't, he was a runner. Despite that, they loved each other and stuck it out. Hopefully Nhena recovers and they figure out a better plan.

Their population is already low and in decline thanks to humans ! Please do not judge them, lion's life is a nightmare nearly from birth to adult age when they are lucky to make it. Like humans lions are not perfect and sometimes they are forced to live a brother alone facing stronger coalitions to death when surely both would die...

Yes they seem pretty aggressive stubborn. This story of the plain camp male lions following them and fighting them I think 3 times. Makes me think they were annoyed by the Birmingham’s acting dominant and being with Gingerella and her partner. Like the Tumbela male they were a bit use to being dominant.

The last veteran of that Era was mighty hairy belly matimba! 5 bboys never were able to catch and fight the 2 matimbas, it was 5 vs 2. The matimbas just leave the area and found another pride.... south avocas fougth many battles, outnumbered, vs dominant males, 3 prides under their control once and they are just 2 males, i repeat ... 2 males. Talking about warrior kings right...

@@user-oc5ke5qr8n I consider the main coalitions that fought during the Era of Warfare Lions to be the Mapogos, Magingilanes, Selatis, Matimbas, and Birminghams. I would pinpoint the beginning of the era as Feb. 2006 when the Mapogos made their first territorial acquisition(Makhulu vs. Nhalanguleni). It's harder for me to pinpoint the end of the era-- certainly by the time the last Magingilane died in 2018, if not before.

Hopefully Nhenha can recover from his injuries. He has to keep a low profile and kill/scavenge when he can. He is an experienced lion and if anyone can pull through it is Nhenha.

He's got great genes. That leg will probably not be the same again, even when completely healed--if the PCs don't "finish" him off first. Let's hope not. Nhena's leg will probably be like the back right leg on Uboso (Ndzenga). Nhena would need his nephew.

@@private4918 uboso and osindile looked like the same type of injury on their back leg, a dislocated knee (rangers opinion). Nhena didn't look to have that, but time will tell when he reappears. Nku Male is likely with him now. My fear is of The Tumbella male who has been spotted, but rangers refuse to say yet in what condition he's in after his fight with the pcms.

@@fourtyfive5620 Uboso. Right there, he's got permanent issues with the bones, most likely, the bloody wounds healed well. Even on the left side, back, the thigh looked like a ribbon of flesh under the skin was detached from the rest for a while. Nhena. I think they cannot tell right now if bones/joints have been affected. The thigh was chewed on bad, like with Uboso. Do you know about the Red Road male, Manyeleti? He got beaten/chewed up pretty bad in later 2021, I think it was, and he could barely walk for some days, or whatever. But, he eventually made a complete recovery, with no permanent bone/joint problem. Red Road was beat up by two of the Tintswalo males, if you know, and they had wounds in their faces afterward. Let's hope Nhena turns out like Red Road, no permanent effects, eventually.

Nkuhuma should be Nhena's nephew, son of Mfumo. Not clear if fight happened on New Year's Eve, from what I've seen, or Jan 1. The last images of Nhena from before are from Dec 31, that certain ranger seems to have announced the fight to the public on Jan 2, based on what they found on the morning of Jan 1, unless the fight happened on the night of Jan 1.

Birmingham and Nkuhuma also had a paw in the killing of the third adult Othawa lioness. They attacked her and later in a weakened stated she was attacked again by Ximhungwe and her own daughter.

Yes, they may have killed both of the older lionesses, and attacked Sassy at least once. Some people out here believe Sassy was attacked more than twice, and I'd say at least 1/3 was probably the PCs. I'm skeptical about the Ximumgwe attack because they didn't have any new wounds, not a scratch, it seems. That "attack" was not witnessed by rangers/guides, and I didn't hear/see if they reported seeing tracks or signs of 3 lionesses fighting--the female tracks would be smaller than the males, usually.

There's just been no sighting or confirmation about who's killed who, all speculation. It's started a huge fight online and on FB. So many narratives, lies and projecting going on based on who you like best and who is the most popular person pointing their fingers. Abuse of powers is not cool either.

@@amberjulien177 Nothing, but it's normal behavior to attack females that don't submit. The Othawas had cubs to protect and 2/3 were too old to raise a new litter, the current cubs were all they had, so they died to defend them.

Just found your channel. Sounds like you know a lot about Sabi Sands Lions! How is it at Sabi Sands? Do the prides wander across all the different lodges or dies each lodge have there own prides? I’m thinking of visiting Notten’s Bush in June or July. Really want to see male Lions and secondly Leopards then elephants. Should I visit Sabi Sands or Nairobi, Masai Mara? Plain Camp males are simply too strong for them best chance Nhenha and his son have would be isolating one of them and killing them before ousting the other either way with Nhenhas age it’s only a matter of time before he himself gets ousted or ends up getting killed with the competition in Sabi Sands

You know people think 11 years old is an advanced age for a lion. When the truth is if it wasn't for the rampant tuberculosis disease tearing through South Africa. 11 years old would be prime age for a lion, if you consider they can live to 25 years of age. Now I know a lion only reaches the age of 25 in a zoo. But if not for tuberculosis 18 probably wouldn't be so out of the norm.

I don't think Nnenha's age is relevant here. Before the fight 10 days ago, Nnehna was as strong and fit as any male lion in the Sabi Sands. Obviously, the thrashing that the PC males gave him will weaken him - not his age.

I think they were just ambushed. Nenha was just the unlucky one to be attacked first and then managed to escape as the PCmales then went after Nym but were unsuccessful. As they already lost the element of surprise.

Birminghams are up north, and neither they or Kambulas would probably ever accept him. His big chance, if Nhena dies/is finished by PCs, would be Skorro Jr. (Tumbela). They both were near each other for a short time in recent days, no hostility, it seems. And they already have been sharing girlfriends, so .... But Nkuhuma and Skorro Jr. would still be the weaker pair, compared to the PC males, probably.

Maybe that is just who he is. This story is reminding me of the Solo male lion the Tsalala male lion who was belived son of Rollercosters male lions or split Rock male lion.
