Birth Story| My experience at a public South African hospital

Please note, I’m not a healthcare practitioner, this was my personal experience explained to the best of my knowledge.
This is not a guide/explanation on the procedures/protocols used at mentioned hospital.

Thanks friend♥️ given all the negative experiences I’ve heard of I think I was lucky. There definitely are terrible nurses out there and one had a nasty attitude but I didn’t let that over shine the caring and attentive ones. I think it also depends where the hospital is situated cause you know how SA is

No I didn’t, I was a student at the time. Please ask the nurse when you attend the antenatal clinic, they will know exactly what the protocol is. But public hospitals will take you regardless of money

Hey🌼, I’m not sure. The clinic nurses should be able to tell you what the rules are. If not, please don’t be afraid to ask the maternity ward nurses. Best wishes 🤍

Beautiful video, I'm also gonna be giving birth at Tshwane District Hospital how is the treatment there I was hoping you will also share a little bit about that. People share scary stuff about public hospitals I never heard anything about the hospital

Thank you ❤Wishing you a safe and good delivery. The majority of the staff in the delivery ward was kind and attentive. I tried not to let one person ruin my experience. Be respectful and listen to their instructions, don't be scared to ask if you don't understand or if you feel something is wrong.

@@simnikiwemajiki8265 i ended up at Goerge Mkhari. The experience was good I never had a problem with the stuff at all. And the place was clean and I was taken care of in a way that I would recommend for anyone to go there. The trick is to also be nice to them. I understand you'll be in great pain, but when you are nice they can even go an extra mile for you. I even gave birth late at night I did have some food cause food is the last thing in your mind. One nurse gave me a sandwich from her own lunch box. According to my experience going to the private hospital would have been a waste cause I didn't have a medical aid

Can I do my antenatal check up at Tshwane district hospital or it’s only for delivery ? I’m new in Pretoria, if not where can I do my antenatal check ups?

Hey, no they do deliveries. As far as I know the antenatal clinics there are for high risk patients that get referred. If you stay in town you can go to F.F ribeiro clinics (at Sammy Marks Square)

Hey🌸 the antenatal clinic will book you to the corresponding hospital. I walked into the hospital and handed them my maternity booklet. I think it’s illegal for a hospital to refuse you if you walk in
