William Barnes Actually, there's clues to either. The empirical evidence of what happens to two isofons suggest Asch would take over. You could argue that they merge and become one (seeing as Asch's body seems to stir before the cutoff), or you could argue he merely absorbed the last essence of Asch and thus got a stable body but that it was still Luke's mind. The ending never gives a clear answer but all the hints point to Luke's words: he references his promise to Tear,he knows their "special place", and he holsters the sword in the same way Luke did.

SPOILERS AND THEORIES INBOUND So, asch died? I remember seeing how asch twitched during the final cinematic cutscene. (Anime cutscene I guess) Which made me think that he wasnt really gone. And neither was luke. But that its Luke in Asch's body at the ending. which is why he has long hair again. And why part of his outfit is more like Asch's.

The theory that most fans like is that Luke absorbed Asch's body when he absorbed Lorelai and released her to the fon belt. It makes sense if you think about it, the idea is that Luke was going to be absorbed by Asch, but Asch died and Luke absorbed part of his powers.In other words,the "big bang" happenned,but in reverse. While the "Luke" that showed up has the original reddish hair and some characteristics are Asch's, he wielded the sword in Luke's style (Luke used his left hand,Asch was a righty) and his words were all pretty much directed at Tear (the comment about the valley and how he promised he would come back).

So if Luke is supposed to be a perfect replica of Asch, then why is Luke left-handed and Asch is right-handed?

Perfect replica in terms of DNA, left hand and right hand dominance is mental. When Luke first came into existance he must have decided to go lefty

I also noticed that Asch calls Luke a "reject" quite often. Alongside being a replica, I wonder if it also has to do with him being left-handed due to discrimination against being left-handed as they are considered inferior beings which I think is bullcrap because I'm left handed myself.
