Yos....Family relationships can be very difficult, especially with gays. Having been there, here is my best OG advice - love your family and appreciate them, but, the only way to keep them in your life is to let them go. They have their lives to live and you have yours. You are not the same little boy that ran away from home. You are a strong young man who is building a great life with his loving husband. You will see your family again when the time is right, but this time, it will be on your terms not theirs. Love to you both, and to Brutus.... ❤❤❤

Happy birthday to you Yos. It can be really rough to be in such a position regarding you and your family. I've got folks in a similar boat with their fam and ultimately it's just a process you gotta take a day at a time. What helped my boyfriend was the love and support I could give him. That he can know that he's good and that he's "enough" so to speak. That and helping him to have more of what makes him happy and things to give him hope. Trauma isn't something that can magically be fixed in a day, but over time we can have more good memories to outnumber the bad ones. I wish you both the best. May you both have truly happy birthdays together.
