Hi Caloy, look for Tuba which is the newly harvested one, you can get the best ones only in the morning till noon, well it's the kind of Tuba I would prefer to drink. You must look for "Manangete' lol, that's who harvest the Tuba in the morning, the Tuba is very refreshing and really taste good and sweet, but you can get drunk though in one full glass straight like that or more, well it depends on the one drinking. Its color is clear almost like buko juice unlike the one you got there, it has fermented already that's why it's sour and orangy, but others may prefer it that way too like apple cider taste, kanang mga hubugero ba, lol, joke! :) Dili maka igit ang tuba kun dili pa nag aslum, makahubog gud kun damo inom. :) kay lami baya. @Fe Almeda...Fresh tuba is not clear like what you claimed as like coconut water. It's not clear because it's not Coco water. Freshly harvested tuba is actually milky white and quite sweet because it's the nectar of the coconut flowers. It becomes acrid after a few hours as it continuously ferments through oxidation. The tuba gatherer put mangrove bark powder to the liquid to turn the milky white into deep orange red.

Maybe what you are referring to is Bahalina which is famous in Leyte and Samar, it's where I learned why their tuba was colored deep orange, then I would agree with you. Have you tried the newly harvested Tuba? Straight from Manangete under the coconut trees in the morning? Not from the container they left the whole day and overnight (that is close to milky in color,) but one harvested just very early in the morning. It is not that milky, a little bit clearer than that, that's why I said "almost" compared to the one they drank. It was a wonderful experience and it is the only kind of Tuba I would love to drink, it is special, same with my mga Titas, its how I found out about it, it's like lady's drink tuba :) lol. Milky color would already taste a bit sourly sweet. It may also depends on the coconut trees how fast it could fill up a cup in the morning. Coconut trees near waters are the best ones. @@fealmeda2010 No. Bahalina is a term used when the alcohol level of tuba reaches that of a vodka which us around 40% of the volume. The freshly harvested coconut nectar is naturally sweet. The tuba (toddy in English) gatherer put the powder as a coloring agent to make tuba more visually appealing to the consumer. Tuba turns acrid a few hours after harvest due to natural fermentation process where in alcohol level increases. After 12 hours or so, the alcohol level increases further (around 15-20%). This time, they call it bahal due to the increase of alcohol content. The fermentation process keeps going until alcohol level reaches to 40% threshold when bahal becomes bahalina. So the terms tuba, bahal and bahalina are used by people on toddy's alcohol level.
