@@becarefulwhatyoufish4764 The first time I was confronted with the alternative model of the earth being flat instead of round, I was indeed amazed how many characteristics of our planet match a flat earth model with some corresponding assumptions just as well as they do with a sphere. For a short period, I thought that the only reason why the earth is probably not flat is the incredible number of points of failure the conspiracy hiding the real shape would have. I was intrigued by the possibility of creating an alternative physical model of the earth that use a plane as a basic axiom and adjusting everything to match reality, so I did some thinking and some research. However, if you dig into it a little deeper, look at certain phenomena that very obviously exist without having to trust a particular person telling you about it, you begin to spot stuff you just can't force into a model that uses a flat plane as earth. For example, you can prove with experiments that I've (by chance) done myself during my time at university, you can prove that matter actually does attract matter, independent of charges etc. The force is somewhat weak on small objects, but it is possible to measure it consistently with a properly isolated setup and about an hour of waiting to see the masses move closer to each other, and even measure the strenght of the force yourself with a kinda decent accuracy. Upscaled to a disk of the size of the earth that results in forces that actually do matter. On a globe, it would just pull us down, give stuff weight, and so on. On a flat earth, the weight of objects has to be explained differently (which poses its own problems, but that depends on the explanation you choose, so I won't elaborate on that right now, I can if you're interested though), but the force still exists, since it isn't an axiom of the globe model, but an actual phenomenon you can simply measure. (even more, it's actually an essential quality of matter that is among the most fundamental findings of science we have and an essential part of many equally fundamental scientific models we base whole industries on, but of course, that is just argument by authority if you don't wanna spend years studying it, so it obviously doesn't count here.) Since it is still there, it also acts on the matter of the disk. That actually means that you should experience a force that points downwards if you're at the middle of the disk, but starts to gradually become more and more horizontal the further away you drive from there. If you're at the south end of south america, you would feel a significant force (roughly pointing to the north) that would even cause stuff to move whenever you reduce friction enough (i.e. most stuff on wheels). You'd even start to build you houses, tables etc. tilted towards the south to have your ground "level" again, meaning objects would only experience a force straight "down" to the ground, and no forces parallel. Basically, everything would appear to you as if it was build on one side of a huge hill on south america, just that there wouldn't be a corresponding other side. it would feel like going up a hill constantly if you walk from north to south, getting slightly steeper with every step you take. There are more examples like this, but as I said, I have to stop somewhere, just ask me if you're interested in something particular. On the other hand, as the supposed problems the flat earth community found are already explained by traditional science and a approximately round earth, with some college-level physics and even without any axioms you can only prove to be true in a lab, in case you consider every scientist that has access to a lab, ever, to be part of the conspiracy and absolutely perfect in terms of keeping their mouth shut in addition. Which some people actually do, for reasons unknown to me. Anyway, have a good day.

Actually, orbital mechanics are funky. If you slow down, you don’t spiral into the sun - you go into a wider orbit. You have to speed up to enter a closer orbit.
