My first pointe shoe fitting was a disaster the lady looked at me and said "You have VERY dificult feet I only have one pair you can try" She forced my foot into the shoe and then said "It fits you perfectly you can buy them" I didn't even go up on pointe I just sat with my feet in them. I was clueless and thought they were the right shoes for me. Whelst in reality the vamp was way too short, the box too narrow and the shank way too hard. Skip ahead till I go for my second pointe shoe fitting. I go to this old man and he asks to see my old shoes and he just looks at me for awhile before he says "Next time you see the lady that sold you these shoes you take the shoes and hit her over the head with them" After an hour and a half pointe shoe fitting he told me he didn't have the right shoe for me but he also said he knows the exact shoe that I need. So I went back two days later and had another fitting with him for about half an hour before he was a 100% happy with the shoe he eventually chose for me.

@@KalikaInLeather Honestly it's a lot easier to dance in them it feels like the shoes are working with me rather than against me. My first fitting was four years ago and then that second one was two years ago and yeah I still wear them😊

came away from the fitting with shoes 2 sizes too small, wayyyy to narrow, the entirely wrong shape for my feet and way too strong a shank. i'd put them on and my feet would go numb straight away, my toes would be red/blue after and really cold from lack of circulation. my feet literally bulged out of them, i couldn't walk in them at all cause they were so short and i couldn't go through demi pointe in them either. i had no balance and the only reason my toes in agony was because all the weight was on the box as they were so narrow and i couldn't feel my feet.

Emma Wilding saaaammmee! My parents knew nothing about ballet and I just thought there was something wrong with my feet, and I thought those flaws were permanent. I ended up quitting because my teacher yelled at me because my left foot wasn’t going all the way up. I was so embarrassed.

I actually made that mistake when I had my first pointe shoe. we were told which brand a tupe to go for, and the shop didn't have too much option either. so I had a pair of Sanshas, and kept adding toepads when they were already very dead, up to the point when I literally didn't feel my toes after dancing in them for 5 minutes...

This might seem funny but 25 years ago that was the NORM .. and brands weren't even mentioned... (did we even have brands back then?!?). I was advised to put a fillet (!!!) in my very very wide pointe shoes because that's what they do in Bolshoi (?!?).

I remember my first pointe shoes, they were blochs, and my toes were legitimately overlapping. The lady insisted it was okay because "pointe is supposed to hurt." They lasted a few weeks until I got my gaynor mindens. I then knew what it meant to have shoes that ACTUALLY fit and it was like dancing on a cloud 🥰

Or they never have you even go on point and just fit you totally flat on the floor. That literally happened at my first fitting as a kid. Turns out the shoes I had were not right for me, as soon an I got on point I sank like a rock and crushed my toes.

That’s how they did it to me, but then mi feet’s start to get bloody because for protection I get thimble for my fat finger, and I get a criss cross elastic but it was the one that is like very wide so then we go to a place that was professional and they say me that that was very bad they give me Bloch heritage 2 x and I need Bloch b morphe 2xx . The woman that fit me the pointe shoe was a “specialist “ on point shoes she go to my professional school but I don’t now why she give it wrong to me so I am only going to get them with the second woman. So yes that’s my experience I fill very identified with this video jejej.
