Bishop Walter Hawkins - Part 2 - LAST PUBLIC PERFORMANCE - "Marvelous"

*Rest In Peace, Bishop Walter Hawkins* Bishop Walter Hawkins ministers with "Marvelous," one of his best-known songs, at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC on April 24, 2010. This concert was a part of the "Joyful Sounds: Gospel Across America" celebration hosted by the Kennedy Center and organized by Rev. Nolan Williams.
Bishop Hawkins is backed by one of his best friends, Richard Smallwood. He opens up the selection with a personal testimony about how he'd been battling Pancreatic Cancer for the past 2 years, and how his love for God never wavered.
The second half of the concert was devoted solely to the music ministry of Bishop Hawkins. The National Symphony Orchestra and choir are conducted by Stanley Thurston.
Bishop Hawkins passed away on the evening of July 11, 2010, and THIS video was from his last public performance. This is truly HISTORY!

All I can say is that I wept when I saw this the other day. I watched it with my wife and we both wept. For Walter to give his all one last time in the condition he was in was a great testament to the power of God working in his life. God has truly blessed us through the life of Bishop Walter Hawkins. I Love Bishop Hawkins songs. There was a long time that I didn't hear from any of the Gospel greats. But Those that passed and went on with Christ. Will be remembered in there songs every time we hear them. God gave us great song writers and singers. Bishop Hawkins is in my top 5. Along side the wonder twins Rev. Thank you for posting this again. There is nothing in this video but the pure fulfillment of God's Word. 2 Cor. 12:9 says "..my strength is made perfect in weakness." The Power of God is so apparent in this "Last" public ministry of song and the Glory of God was in that place and with us a we watch this. Again, thank you for re-posting.

I taped the "Marvelous" video from Gospel Videos on cable a few years ago. They played it almost every other show and I know I must have at least 4 VHS tapes with Bishop Hawkins singing this with the Love Center Choir. I made sure I kept all of them too-and I watched that video every week. A few years ago I made a mistake and bought "The Mississippi Mass Choir" DVD and decided to keep it. When I pslayed it, I noticed Bishop Hawkins singing on a few of the selections....Yes, I jumped for joy

I love and miss bishop hawkins...i remember watching him as a lil girl on the malaco tapes with his song thank you lord and rev moore coming in along with frank williams! But I know that he is not suffering anymore and that he is resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Now I can listen to "I'm Going Away" and know that he is with our Lord.
