I believe the reason for having to warn people about DOING, is because, for years, the focus has been more on teaching that our Christian life is based on what/how much we DO for the Lord, instead of teaching people WHO THEY ARE because of Christ's sacrificial expression of love at Calvary. In other words, we've operated on the premise that our identity is based on our DOING, instead of BEING. Something to consider: when Jesus was baptized by John, He was declared by the Father to be 'My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased.' God made this declaration over His son BEFORE Jesus had performed ONE SINGLE SOLITARY MIRACLE. I believe this was to show us that our identity in Christ IS NOT BASED ON OUR DOING, but in our being WHO He MADE US TO BE IN CHRIST.

I listened to this his entire clip and found Nothing that he said to be a charge against the doctrine of our church! He does make it crystal clear that our doctrine is not the same nor carries the same weight as The Bible! It is just a Bible commentary may give you some insight or guidance on the Bible but it is Not a Substitute for God’s Holy Word!
