Dorsetshire may have struck with her torpedoes, but Bismarck had a double hull, and they never penetrated the inner hull, only the outer, as confirmed by MIR submersibles in 2002 and broadcast by National Geographic. They were also able to go inside Bismarck for the first time. The findings were that there was no damage below the waterline of the ship to confirm that she was actually sunk by shells and torpedoes. In fact, upon close inspection of the wreckage, it was confirmed that none of the torpedoes or shells penetrated the second layer of the inner hull. Coupled with the fact that her hull, with the exception of the last 35 feet of her stern, was completely intact and not imploded, the indisputable conclusion was that the German sailors did, in fact, sabotage the inlet valves in the engine room, which filled Bismarck with water, thus equalizing the pressure between the sea and the ship.

No way is this at 50k, that is sad. The beginning track, when that plays in game as your hunting down a ship is one of my favorite tunes because of this video. Not to mention this is the Mighty Bismark. Focus on the ships and the brave souls that manned them. To enter into warfare like this with everything on the line. Thank you oh so much yet again for an amazing emotional ride as I experience what is the greatest naval fight in history. My humble opinion.

Minor error - in RL it was the Hood's after deep 15" magazine, just forward of 'X' turret, that detonated. The shell from Bismark penetrated deep and initially set off the 4.1" magazine next to it, which in turn set off the main after magazine.At some point during the sinking, Hood's forward main magazine also exploded, although the evidence seems to suggest that this probably happened when the hull was already submerged.

Sinking Bismarck was so much of damn luck for the Royal Navy , their afford to hunt and sink her was a biggest comedy of WW2 sea operations , like most of the Wows players would have said ..... LOL ;)

It lasted a long time. Bismarck was good, but not dominatingly so. It might have defeated any British BB in single combat but it would have been a wreck. Two British BBs would overmatch it. And the British sent more than that.

Since I started to take interest on battleship...the bismarck is my favorites of all battleship.not yamato not iowa..her lifespan was short..but manage to create a legendary status..and prove that he was the most powerful battleship at that time.

The death of the HMS Hood was worse than what was described here. The best guess at this time was that an 8" shell plunged through the deck and into the magazine. The powder in the magazine was burning but the hull contained it. Pressure built and built. Witnesses on Prince of Wales reported a column of fire shooting up from Hood. Then, in an instant, like a defective pressure cooker, the hull could withstand no more and Hood was utterly destroyed.

It was a mix between both her armor was so thick that even the scuttling charges did barely anything to Bismarcks hull and the Royal navys torps did barely anything as well, shells may have did damage but only other high caliber guns could do the trick

The Tirpitz was not larger, it was heavier. Bismarck and Tirpitz were both 823 feet long, however, Tirpitz was 3,000 tons heavier, due to increased armor protection.

I'd read the book Pursuit: The Sinking of the "Bismarck" by Ludovic Kennedy when I was a teenager... About 20 years ago. Reading was really a freetime activity that time! No matter on which side these men and ships fought, it's a big loss and shame. IMO Bismarck was the most beautiful warship, used for the wrong purposes in a wrong time in the wrong hands. Sad story indeed!
