Bison Floating Floor Socket Installation Tips

Bison's floating floor sockets for volleyball standards come in three sizes three inch, three and a half inch, and four inch diameters. Check to see that you have the right size for your posts the top and bottom plates for three inch posts are orange, three and a half inch posts are white, and four inch posts are black and there are three styles of hinged covers Chrome, brass, and an option to lock. Here are a few tips to help your socket installation go smoothly carefully read and follow the instructions and consult with the architect if needed for proper placement of the sockets over existing cavities hidden by the floor. We recommend using a professional experienced installer if possible. Installation and tile synthetic or other gym floor types are possible with adjustments for the proper conditions. Once you've determined the right location drill a hole at the center you can then center the through-hole routing template to cut a six inch hole through the floor. Then using the step bore routing template to remove 3/8 inch of the floor so the hinged floor plate will be flush with the floor surface. Both the through-hole and step board templates need to be secured with duct tape to avoid movement during routing. With the wood floor drilled and routed insert the hinge floor plate to check for proper fit the hinged lid should open away from the court pre-drill the pilot holes for the floor plate. If needed cut a six inch hole through the concrete below the wood floor and excavate the material below the concrete to a diameter of approximately 30 inches into a depth of 20 inches below the wood floor. When installing the sockets we suggest setting them at a one and a half to two degree angle away from the court to compensate for the deflection of the pole when tensioned by the net. To get the angle right assemble the socket and cover install the plastic tubular nuts then use the three white spacers and along with the two small spacers on the side away from the court, this will set the socket at the correct angle. Assembled the sockets and lid in the hole to make sure all is fit and flush then remove it to add the grout before the permanent set. Fill the hole with pre-mixed non-shrink grout leaving room for the socket to be inserted into the wet grout leave the socket and cover assembled while the grout is curing. Then remove the cover and discard the white bushings to allow the wood floor to adjust to heat and humidity. Allow 10 days for the grout to fully cure before using the sockets.
