Michael is such a fantastic story-teller, he expertly guides us through the story with the ease of a calm breeze and I'm so glad I listened. This PPV was one of only a handful that I ever missed over all these years, I had moved out into the country and had limited access to internet and the news. It was a few months, but when I came back........Mike was the damn Champion!!! Damn proud of him, and sorry I missed it live on PPV (Oh, and I missed McGregor-Diaz 1)
@solomonking95382 жыл бұрын
I'll be honest, I was one of the ones that thought Bisping didn't have a chance and thought he had pillow hands, so it was crazy to see him KO Rockhold like that. I later realized that Bisping does have power but doesn't use it as much to keep it more technical but when he saw that golden ticket on Rockhold's chin, he let his hands go haha fair play
@conorscullion79772 жыл бұрын
Bisping was 40/1 to KO Rockhold in round 1. Myself included along with 95 per cent of people expected Rockhold to dispatch of Bisping with ease, because he did so in the first fight. Still so satisfying watching him KO Rockhold and get the belt 😂

And never mind that you were fighting all these juiced up fucks with one eye for a long time you were a badass from the get-go much love and respect to you cheers brother My favorite clean champions of all time! Anyone who talks crap, and tries to say this man didn't deserve to be champion, or defend his championship have never competed at any level in combat sports. This man went through the fire his whole career, and came out the other side as a champion, a HOF fighter, and one of the greatest to ever do it. Bisping is easily one of the greatest strikers mma has ever seen, his takedown defense was top notch, and his BJJ was very underrated. It's like a script in a great movie. The man fell just short of greatness during his prime, but he kept fighting, and his biggest dreams didn't come true until his vision was compromised, and he was getting older. Bisping could have easily been a champion much earlier in his career had a few fights went slightly differently. Winning a championship, or even getting a championship fight opportunity in the UFC is a lot more difficult than in boxing. You have to beat championship level competition just to have a title shot, and there are no easy fights. Anything can happen, and records don't matter nearly as much as they do in boxing. Bisping actually has a great record as a UFC fighter. He was always on the edge of getting a title shot several times, but got upset by some of the greatest, toughest fighters in the division, yet he kept moving forward, and didn't look back. It goes to show that you can accomplish a lot if you keep going, and if you don't quit, you might actually reach the pinnacle of your dreams. It takes the right combination of preparation, confidence, luck, and performance. Even if Bisping never won a championship, he still would have been a HOF fighter, and one of the best to ever do it.

Being a Brit, I stayed up until silly o'clock in the morning to watch you fight Rockhold, which is something I only ever do when I'm mega excited for a fight. I remember watching it in bed and jumping up shouting " FUCK YES!" when you finished Rockhold. Woke up the whole house and probably the neighbours too. I'm not gonna lie, I got a little emotional seeing Dana wrap the belt around your waist and seeing how much it clearly meant to you. To this day it's the only time I've ever shed a little tear watching sport. One thing that's always bugged me about hearing you talk about this fight though is when you've said in the past "everyone counted you out" and "no one thought you'd be able to do it". Well I believed you could win the belt as soon as I heard about it. I just believed you were the kind of guy who'd rise to the occasion. And you did exactly that!
