Man, years later they 'switched' characters. The one who was quiet, calm and melancholic (the prequel, Time of Fever) came back to the seaside town years later completely a different person. He became fiercer and sassier, while the one was was a happy go lucky and naughty became mellower and softer. Time of Fever made me cried but in ULS, they made me LOL

I honestly feel like because of his home situation in Time of Fever, Dong Hee just needed to push everything down because he felt like if he let his guard down he would end up hurting the people he loved. But going to a big city like Seoul, without the need to explain himself anymore kinda resulted in him getting his personality back to the way it was when him and Ho Tae were kids. Ho Tae on the other hand was so hurt when he left him behind that he just got mad at him and stayed like that until the middle of ULS where he finally confessed. But of course, Dong Hee still didn't want to hurt Ho Tae's mom like he thought he was hurting his own parents. (IDK, it's just my opinion xD. Apologies for droning lol)

The spin-off was nice, background that helps me understand their behaviour in ULS, what I really wish for now is a drama of them in the present to see them develop their relationship and finally get together. I think that last scene where Donghee lets Hotae hug him shows that he could be getting softer towards Hotae again 😊

It’s always Dong Hee that suppresses his feelings but you learn so much more about them in The Time of Fever … and Ho Tae’s “bad habits” lol How can you not love these two guys? I dunno if they are just really smart actors but they really made these characters come alive. It’s not easy to be a good actor amongst all the bl drama fluff but when the characters “come alive” - it’s very telling because us true bl fans will know the difference. After all, there is far more crazy stuff in manga and web novels and anime etc etc So I’m just happy to see a true power bottom being able to appeal and capture the essence and angst of how and why they became who they are despite always being smarter than most…and how the honest yet courageous Top is NOT the smartest but some has high emotional IQ when it comes to being with their chosen person. The whole rival to friends to lovers… rom com drama is at its best when you just want to root for them even if the world throws them challenges all the time

It hints that Donghee is kinda softening his stance on the possibility of a relationship, but they are not together at the end of the series. Time Of Fever explains a lot more about why Donghee's trauma in high school makes him so reluctant to start a relationship with Ho Tae, and I think their acting in Time of Fever is great, so I really hope they get a sequel. It's really a beautiful love story, they both really love each other, I don't think it's one sided at all, but Donghee has baggage galore that he hasn't worked through. 2 hours ago

@@emmie4628 Time of Fever really showed that Donghee and HoTae both really love each other, but Donghee has a lot of really bad baggage he still hasn't dealt with. In Time of fever, you see that he was beaten by his father and then kicked out of his home and family for being gay, but the worst damage was when his father tells him that he is ill. Donghee has internalized that, and thinks that Ho Tae is better off without him, living a "normal" life rather than dragging him down with his "illness." Donghee is older than HoTae, and has felt like he should be a big brother who takes care of him and steers him down the right path instead of using him to fulfill his own base fantasies. So Dong Hee has decided to let go of any possibility of getting in a relationship with Ho Tae, not because he doesn't love him but because he does love him and thinks that Ho Tae dates all these girls anyway so he will eventually find one that he actually likes and be happy with her, living a normal life. This is all complicated by the fact that the only person who seems to truly love Donghee as a parental figure was Ho Tae's mom, who he feels he would betray if he leads her son down that path. This is why Donghee keeps insisting that Ho Tae calls him "older bro" and Ho Tae is like "definitely not, that's not how I see you." The way I see it, Donghee needs to work through all of his traumatic issues and realize that his love for Ho Tae was never ill, which is why we NEED a S2. Even if they don't get the funding though, this was still a really beautiful love story.

Honestly their relationship pissed me off so bad. There was little to no progress within it. And their dynamics felt kinda toxic to me. I think either the younger one needs to get some distance so the older one can stop being so comfortable in the idea that he is always going to be around and pursuing him ( especially with how much he pushes him away) or they need to actually have a frank conversation about their issues and feelings. Don’t get me wrong both guys messed up in handling situations so it is definitely a we both made this mess situation. It might not have been so bad if there had actually been some progress by the end.

So I remember watching this show & loving them & when they released The Time Of Fever which is the prequel to their story I watched it & LOVE their chemistry. My complaint is that it’s so short & super rushed. I decided to watch this to refresh my memory on their “current” time line & comparing both shows it confused me more about what happened between the time from the end of the time of fever to the beginning of this show! Like their personalities are different in both shows. I NEED NEED NEED a second season with LONGER episodes with more depth on them whether the time in between the shows or of them in present time 😭 If anything cast these actors in another bl together bc their chemistry was off the charts especially during the kiss scenes

The aunt’s Hotae’s mom. Think he was scared of disappointing her by going out with her son. Seems she was the only one that was ever nice or kind to him. I think the aunt cried cuz she knew they had feelings for each other … we definitely need a season 2

I think that she cried because she felt sorry for him: he's been alone his whole life, having to bring himself up since his family was not only neglectful but also horribly abusive to him, I don't think that she knows that her son has a deep interest in him. Ho Tae kind of makes a mistake in his approach: he says "date me for a month" which makes it seem like he wants to experiment with Dong Hee, just to see if he'll like sleeping with him. So Dong Hee is very careful here: first, he's in love with Ho Tae, has been for along time, and being told that his sexual orientation is a "problem" by his family, he doesn't want to drag HoTae into the same fate. Also, it might ruin their friendship if it doesn't work out, which Dong Hee obviously cherishes. On top all this, Ho Tae and Ho Tae's mom is the only true family he has ever had and he's probably afraid she'll regret ever taking him under her wing if she found out he's seduced her son. I think in the end he sort of starts giving in a bit because he can see from Ho tae's persistence that it's not just a passing physical fascination.

I guess it has to do something with Hotae's mother, I don't exactly remember the scene but when she visited him in UIL at his cafe weren't they both a little, u know something fishy. Maybe he's just trying to not show his crush, remember Taejoon and Donghee were talking about it. That boy is definitely just acting all that tough and toxic, he is a sweetheart.

Yup there is a gap in time… now I understood why the ending was so hard to write for episode 6 and was kinda like a cliffhanger. The amazing thing was that their chemistry was definitely more strong as teenagers lol 😆 that first kiss was like wow but that second kiss … pls just go watch - these actors are so good together. After Semantic Error, they are my second fav bl couple now within k bl drama series. The casting was really done well but for some strange reason it is rated NC17 so just a heads up on that - don’t ask me why because it was super innocent compared to Thai bl dramas

I agree it was super innocent by most standards, but I think for a Korean production (where tv seems to still be super conservative), just the off screen implication that Ho Tae reaches down and touches Donghee during the second kiss got them an NC-17 rating. It wasn't just a hot scene though, it actually was for the plot, as hilarious as it sounds, which goes to show that the writers who wrote it are really really good. I hope they get the same people to write a sequel, that could really get amazingly popular and break boundaries, if they have to mark it NC-17 just for such docile scenes, then so be it.

Time of Fever really showed that Donghee and HoTae both really love each other, but Donghee has a lot of really bad baggage he still hasn't dealt with. In Time of fever, you see that he was beaten by his father and then kicked out of his home and family for being gay, but the worst damage was when his father tells him that he is ill. Donghee has internalized that, and thinks that Ho Tae is better off without him, living a "normal" life rather than dragging him down with his "illness." Donghee is older than HoTae, and has felt like he should be a big brother who takes care of him and steers him down the right path instead of using him to fulfill his own base fantasies. So Dong Hee has decided to let go of any possibility of getting in a relationship with Ho Tae, not because he doesn't love him but because he does love him and thinks that Ho Tae dates all these girls anyway so he will eventually find one that he actually likes and be happy with her, living a normal life. This is all complicated by the fact that the only person who seems to truly love Donghee as a parental figure was Ho Tae's mom, who he feels he would betray if he leads her son down that path. This is why Donghee keeps insisting that Ho Tae calls him "older bro" and Ho Tae is like "definitely not, that's not how I see you." The way I see it, Donghee needs to work through all of his traumatic issues and realize that his love for Ho Tae was never ill, which is why we NEED a S2. Even if they don't get the funding though, this was still a really beautiful love story.

Donghee's parents are homophobic. Hotae's mom basically is like a mother to Donghee after he comes come out. He respects her and shes the only adult in his life to show him love. So, he feels like he's betraying her by having feelings for her son, and hes scared of ruining his relationship with her.
