My grandfather and I are on a road trip and we just passed by this park. We are from Kentucky and ultimately going to make our way to Santa Monica California. I really enjoy your videos and wish I had time to stop at this park. You make it look so nice. Thank you 4 your videos

At 4:57 I want the white one. Wow. Nice trip no cell service I bet.

I know right! Aren't those some beautiful rigs. Correct on the cell service. We didn't have cell service at the majority of our destinations this trip.

So cool where you can take your rig! Some of those back roads 😳 stuff my dad used to take me down in Baja but we weren’t towing. Love the landscape starting around 6:30+ - bird head and then a nest. Very cool area and one I had never heard of. 👍

Thank you. Little George (the trailer) is a wonderful traveler and built like a tank. He can go anywhere the truck can go. The Bisti / De-Na_Zin Wilderness was not what I expected. I don't think I had wrapped my head around just how vast of an area it is until after we arrived. If we had this excursion to do again, and in late May again, I would want to arrive in the evening with enough light to set up camp in the parking lot. Get a good nights sleep and explore in the morning when it is as cool as possible. It would be helpful to pick a target area before arrival too and trek to that spot. If we had done that, we could have definitely seen more.

Do you ever "air down" your tires? I just returned from 2 weeks backroading and trail exploring in my 2017 RAM Rebel and used a ViAir 12V compressor for airing back up the tires that I would deflate to around 30 psi. That made a huge difference in the quality of the ride over washboards, large gravel and of course added traction in very soft sand sections.

We haven't ever aired down - yet. We run a little soft; 35 psi all the time. The air down benefit on washboard roads would be a definite plus.

Seen your other videos of the trailer build or rebuild. Does it have brakes and has Bill ever wished or felt the need for trailer brakes on that size trailer?
@wobblyotteroutdoors6 жыл бұрын
The Morris Mule, George, does not have trailer brakes. Bill says there have been times he wished the trailer did have brakes. In the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming there were some long, very steep downhill grades (on hwy 14A) and it would have been nice to have the extra help. Fully loaded the trailer probably weighs about 1,500 pounds.

You have traveled to where the road ends-or at least where the sheep dog is sleeping. Looks like a real exploration. Brave!

Nice adventure. Thanks for taking us along. Where did you camp that night? -Bill

We had planned on camping in the Bisti parking lot - where the cool looking overlanding RVs were. We finished exploring De Na Zin in the early afternoon and it was just so blasted hot. We drove to Farmington for the night.

Do you guys use only paper maps or have you tried something like Gaia software app for navigation?
@wobblyotteroutdoors6 жыл бұрын
We use Google Maps mostly. We try to map out a route while we have cell service. Sometimes Google tries to have us turn where there is no road. Sometimes Google takes us to a closed gate with a "Private Property - No Trespassing" sign. We have looked at the Gaia app, but haven't used it in the field yet.
