In the 1980s Hostels 1-4 were for 3rd and 4th year Engg Students. Hostels 6&7 were for freshies. Looks like that's changed.

Accha h kaafi college se !!! IIIT last wali aur nit last wali se jyadga preference deni chayie isse !!. Reason : good campus Net (many iiit me shi se net bhi nhi milta h bss 1-2gb 1 din ka vo bhi 4 baje shaam ke baad ) Good campus Library (iiit aur last ii nit me Library ke naam pe ghanta h) Gym Placement (company comes like microsoft, google , paytm etc ..)

From first year .. you will get 2 seater and from 2nd year you will get either single room or double seater .. and if you are asking for cse or aiml both are good branches it totally ups to you .. where your interest fall... that's it ...

For 2 month internships after 3rd year, currently all major on campus companies like Google, Atlassian, Schrodinger etc are allowing AI/ML as well.
