It is quite clear that something underhand is going on in regards to the Voice. What consultation would have been necessary? It's painfully clear that this proposal is divisive and racist. How could anyone, aside from the Aboriginal industry, ever consider this as something worth discussing let alone voting on? The plain fact of the matter is that Australians should all be treated the same regardless of ethnicity and origins.

It is hard if not impossible to state it in short words better than Senator Price : "Australia should be united together as one, not divided by race. The proposed new ‘Voice’ in parliament is divisive and dangerous - it will only push Australian apart. Take action to keep Australians united!" We should never have any 'treaties' based on racial, ethnic and historical divisions. These differences can be rather mutually enriching and uniting Australians, if they are cultural differences of people with absolutely equal social and political rights. Otherwise, these differences could mutate into means of destructive divisions! Throughout human history, the face of the entire world has always been changing: its ethnic groups, countries, borders, etc. Many of these changes have been unjust as they resulted from conflicts, violence, local and world wars, and crimes against humanity. We need to constantly learn from our history that not to create new injustices. One of such lessons suggests that we must not attempt to heal committed injustices by new injustices. Our history shows that any attempt to reverse established historical reality turns into injustice. In case of our country Australia, it is not possible to heal historical wounds of Indigenous people by giving them a special constitutional status and rights, or even 'sovereignty'. More than 26 millions Australians should not be discriminated compared to less than a million Indigenous people. We need to find just and really democratic ways of efficiently addressing their issues. Injustice cannot be healed by injustice! With full respect to Indigenous people and regrets of what happened to them in the colonial past, we all still have to realize that the historical reality is that Australian nation consists now of people from many ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The Indigenous people group is not the biggest one and not the one, which made the biggest contribution into creating of modern Australia. Anyway, regardless of that, under no circumstances it is a good idea to try to reverse history, as it would mean racism and discrimination towards majority of people in Australia, which are not responsible at all for our colonial past. We need to strongly condemn colonial crimes and atrocities but accept historical reality and have really democratic society, where we all should be absolutely equal in our rights. No one, including Indigenous people, should have any special privileges regardless of their background and history. It is why I am against Voice and any specific ethnic and/or racial 'treaties' but strongly for really democratic Australian republic where every person would be absolutely equal in their rights.

I would suggest most people have made up their mind by now. History says the “undecideds” will lean toward No. Even a 50/50 split of Undecideds gives No campaign a comfortable win based on current polls. And yes would still need to win 4 states for double majority. That’s a tough ask when WA and QLD are heavily leaning toward No.

Taxpayers give $30B annually for 984,000 people (3.8% of the population) • Expenditure per person in 2012-13 was $43,449 on Indigenous Australian compare to $20,900 on other Australians a ratio of 2.08 to 1 and increase from 1.95 in 2009. 3,278 Aboriginal corporations • 243 Native title bodies • 48 Land councils • 35 Regional councils • 122+ Aboriginal agencies • 3 Advisory bodies • 145 Health Organisations • 11 Indigenous Federal MPs • 12 Culturally important Indigenous days • Senator Price says Australian taxpayers spend at least $100 million a day on direct support for Indigenous Australians. Every year $39.5 billion of direct government expenditure every single year. The figures are based on the 2017 Indigenous Expenditure Report produced by the Productivity Commission. Issues of racial and social injustices are hardly ousted by elevating and heightening race (cultural identification, credentials). Especially on a political level, but also within the wider community. NO NO

Wouldn't the Constitution limit the power of The Voice?
@ThaMassDebater
@ThaMassDebater Жыл бұрын
In Julian Lessers speech at the Sydney Institute the other day, he was asked how the voice would help indigenous Australian battling rheumatoid health conditions. He responded by telling us how that through consultation at grassroots level they have made pathways in other health objectives. Well Mr Leeser, those improvements that you have witnessed have come without the need for a voice body to parliament. These measures towards improvement have been achieved through consultation and legislation. Why do we need a body in the constitution, on the same level as the parliament and executive, only for people of a certain ethnicity, when you clearly explained that great outcomes are occuring without the voice. Historically maligned groups such as women have achieved better outcomes through consultation and legislation. Why wouldn't a bi-partisan body outside the constitution be as effective? The notion that anyone should be treated differently because of their genetics, is the basis of racism.... 🤦
@goldenautumn3073
@goldenautumn3073 Жыл бұрын
I think their answer would be, if they were halfway HONEST, that this is a quest for ULTIMATE CONTROL of Australia, not any 'plea for help for the aborigines with 'no voice' in Parliament. I cannot BELIEVE anyone wouldn't realise that our Constitution provides the EXACT SAME rights, services and privileges to ALL Australians, INCLUDING the aborigines! That's what Constitutions of democracies are compiled to provide! There never therefore was any NEED to have this idiocy even considered, for they ALREADY have the exact same Parliamentary rights of representation as every other Australian does!

If you mean the 1967 change, that was simply the groundwork for THIS change, because ONE change to our Constitution sets a legal precedent where any other future changes can be simply added on! This socialist/communist PLAN, which few Australians know about, has been working subversively for many decades - GLOBALLY - as is now being evidenced worldwide. Just look at what's happened in NZ, Canada, and is happening in the UK and USA. ALL almost identical moves and destructive results! And what we've just witnessed in our own State of Victoria, imo confirms it. This is NOT a move to protect our rights and freedoms we've so far enjoyed - it will take Australia into communist DICTATORSHIP.
