From the US - It’s so hard to know when you should gather them up and when to stay beautifully forward and hitting the fence in stride. One thing I know - you will figure it out or learn it! Keep those lessons going! Emily, you are bringing her along beautifully! ❤️ You should be proud! You both have boatloads of talent that could take you far ➡️

Great job, and looked like you and Addie really enjoyed it!!! Addie looks like SUCH a fun ride; she’s definitely got the scope and we know she’s got the speed! 😂 I think you rode both rounds very well! As a show jumper myself, being times adds difficulty, and it’s easy to get caught up in the race against the clock and make a minor mistake which costs rails. But good for you for getting it back together and finishing the rest of the SJ round beautifully! Tbh, there have been times in competitions where I’ve had a couple rails, and just kind of given up around the rest of the course. But you didn’t let it phase you (at least it didn’t look like it did), so kudos to you! By the way, you are not the first rider in a timed SJ class who went a little TOO fast in the wrong places, made turns a little TOO tight, or sliced a jump on too much of an angle and had a rail down because of that. Watch the regular show jumpers, especially the jump-offs, and you’ll see what I mean! So don’t beat yourself up about it. I’m really happy that the 100 didn’t feel daunting to you, so I will be looking forward to watching your upcoming events at 100! Cheers from the U.S.!❤ On another subject, I think Chris needs to learn how to give CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, instead of just being negative and, in my opinion, a bit insulting. There is definitely a way to explain to someone what mistakes you think they made in a more positive way! A way in which you don’t make the rider feel like s**t and a total failure. As a fellow rider, I know it really hurts my feelings when a close friend or partner just straight up lectures me on all the things I did wrong, without couching their comments in a more positive light.

Thanks so much for your comment. We've certainly all been there with slicing, being too fast and cutting corners but it's all things we learn from. I actually really appreciate Chris' comments, I do well from a bit of 'tough' love and it's the best way I learn. I like that style from all my instructors too, I simply don't take it on board if it's all too nice nice 🙈😂 I know that's just me but I know Chris' knows that xx

Well done! I think you rode brilliantly as always, even if you made a tiny couple of mistakes, fun was the main aim :) I find it useful to test how they are showjumping schooling the day after a gallop. You can find out how easy/difficult it is to get them sitting and waiting for the showjumping jumps. Always good to know what you might expect from them so you can plan ahead. I'm sure you know of some exercises to get her collected and bouncy again for the showjumping if she takes a little time to get back into "showjumping mode"! Good luck :)

Great event where you obviously enjoyed yourself. You are very good at self analysis and know where, and what you did wrong. Can't say I was very impressed with your husband's comments and how he delivered them. I could see in your face you were not happy. Usually all comments are greatfully received, but maybe he should ask questions rather than give training tips on a sport I don't think he knows much about.

Emily, it’s all about having fun, but Chris is right don’t cut corners and slow down, where was your rhythm and your balance? Cam would tell you off, but things to learn for next time. Do a few fun rides and camp.
@margauxnodvin7478
@margauxnodvin7478 2 ай бұрын
She stated that the round was timed. In the world of straight show jumping, that DOES mean going fast, making tight turns, cutting corners where you can to save time. Mostly in speed rounds and in jump offs. We also often slice our jumps (jump them diagonally) and also sometimes take a stride out of a related distance aka a “line” in US terms. Yes, you still need rhythm and balance to do all of the maneuvers I listed above. Having ridden show jumpers for decades, it’s ingrained in me to find the quickest way to get from one jump to the next, even when I don’t need to.

@margauxnodvin7478
@margauxnodvin7478 2 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, you can fall off a horse at any height jump, and it hurts just as much. Just depends how you fall. I’ve also had falls unrelated to jumping; I’ve been bucked off, had a horse do the old spook then spin and bolt (leaving me on the ground), I’ve had horses trip and fall (one time I was cantering my first horse, and he tripped, did a somersault, and landed on my leg). My point is that riding horses is inherently risky, regardless of the fence height.

Definitely "say what you think" Chris but perhaps phrase it in a more positive light. 👍 Everything you said was negative.(Right from the get-go complaining about the time.) For a person we rarely see on the amazing Emily's vlogs you're not exactly endearing yourself to the audience.The audacity to say she can't take feedback when, in fact, Emily shut down in response to your misguided comments. Point me to one positive thing you had to say. I hope he's not that negative and critical in your private life, Emily. If so, dump him. You deserve the best. Don't let him steal your sparkle.

I made the SAME comment about Chris needing to learn how to give constructive criticism, and adding positivity to his “advice”! I agree that he was negative from the get go, and I personally found the way he talked to Emily to be a bit insulting. Not saying she needs to dump him, but maybe have some discussions about how to give opinions/advice in a less negative manner.

I 100% get what you’re saying but I think he’s probably re-iterating what Emily talks to him about at home, being critical of herself and explaining to him how she wants to ride so I think he was basically saying she didn’t put it into practice! This is such a small snippet of their relationship, they are literally married. I expect he loves and adores her as we all do and this is their communication, he isn’t usually on vlogs so probably isn’t aware of how the audience might perceive what I expect is very normal for them as a couple!
