You hit the Goldilocks Zone! Mr. Gromen discourses with a really wide range of people. The hosts with familiarity/competency as to the subjects he deals in can Wade out into the jargon-and-shorthand space that makes for esoterica on par with Zoltan Pozsar. Others, who need a much higher elevation ‘intro to basics’ , lose out on the sharp edges of the nuanced risks left unspoken-for-brevity/K.I.S.S. sake. You, sir, came out with a balanced result here that makes it valuable to every level of awareness/education/familiarity with the moving parts of Mr. Gromen’s Macro view

1971 is popular for US going off gold standard but it was also the final stage of every empire before it. financialization was the last necessary step to hold onto something that couldn't be held onto. financialization was an attempt to replace the irreplaceable economic activity of productive economies. Lesson: don't build empires, you aren't that special.

The major problem with Luke’s view of a gigawatt is a gigawatt is Chinese infrastructure is falling apart after very little time all over the world. So if the gw costs 2 billion and lasts 5 years versus 30, then the extra cost is equal and actually becomes more cost effective over time. Building lots of crap fast that isn’t worth anything isn’t good. Nobody, and I mean nobody talks about the great quality of Chinese products.

Substitute 'increased sustained necessary' for 'sticky'. Inflation is the only palatable method of [inevitable] US debt default.
