Miners are not solving complex problems. They are hashing the same thing over and over again and adding a random number to the block to hopefully get the correct hash to close the block. These are the steps 1. Hash the block 2 check result if correct done if not try another random number and repeat. That is the whole process.

One tricky thing for me to understand is bitcoin fees for sending BTC from the full node (original BTC wallet) wallet....is there a way to know how low can you go with transaction fees and have it confirm? I did have one transaction not confirm once as I set the fee too low so I increased it and it went through. Is there a way to know based on the current market value what the minimum fee should be? Maybe you could do a video 'demystifying' BTC fees....even when I read or watch videos about it, the people making the vids or articles seem like they are still not 100% clear on it all...

Great video, thank you so much. I have a question (if you read comments): What do you mean exactly by "the full transaction history"? Is that all the previous transfers that lead to one particular transaction? How does that appear on the blockchain? How can one "trace" one given transaction through time on the blockchain?
@leinaissance2 жыл бұрын
The full transaction history IS the blockchain itself. The blockchain keeps every single transaction from the genesis block the first block mined by satoshi himself. Everything is recorded there, the address, amount, time, etc.

It wouldn't have to be a tutorial, but an overview just like this fantastic video was. A couple questions this video left me with is; I understand you can build the node, but does that hook to a computer so you can see and make transactions? This was fantastic. First video but I have just subscribed. I’m very interested in a demo. Say taking $150-$250 to buy everything you need to set up a node. Going thru the process to download Tor. Set up an internal/external SSD and both showing popular node hosting services as well as showing how to set one up yourself using your guide and also resources for commands. I’m just dipping my toes into Nodes but I’ve heard the term tossed around for a while now and I’ve also always known that each coin is inherently valuable because it is technically real and physical in the sense that it’s decentralized and exists on multiple devices globally. I just always thought that was mining and the serves that exchanges have. Does this mean that large exchanges like Coinbase are running their own nodes?
@derbetonmischer33247 ай бұрын
I got some old but still decent hardware flying around. An i7-4790K, 32GiB DDR3 (and a GTX 980, that is not really helpful in that case, though), etc. I guess I should be running some nodes of several networks on there, just to make the blockchain networks (not just Bitcoin and Lightning) I am interested in safer for myself AND everyone else.

If you use a Trezor one to hold your bitcoin does it make sense to run your own node? I assume both your node and trezor’s node would validate each transaction? And if you did set one up, what about the bitcoin already held on that cold storage wallet? I assume the new node would just validate that those transactions were performed on chain and IP would be more discrete moving forward? Thanks, just trying to learn!

If you want ready-made hardware without having to even build the Pi into a case, just buy the Raspberry Pi 400 (which is a slightly upgraded Pi 4 in a keyboard case) with the official Raspberry USB-C power supply, and also buy the USB3-ready Sandisk 1 TB SSD drive (so you don't even have to insert the SSD into a case; the 550 MB/s speed version is enough, no need for the more expensive faster versions) and the 16 GB MicroSD card. With that there's no hardware tinkering: You just have to flash the OS into the MicroSD card from your computer, then insert it into the Pi card slot, connect the cables and it just works! The only downside is the keyboard part of the Pi 400 will be wasted, since Umbrel doesn't have any user interface within the Pi itself but only as a local network web server accessed from another computer (HDMI display output, if you plug it, is just grey on black technical logging text). But you can just turn it off when you don't want to use the node, then switch MicroSD cards, and run a full graphical Linux OS on it if you want (each MicroSD card can have different OSes for different purposes).
