Sorry you're having difficulties, I had problems with the upload but it appears to be working now, according to other listeners. Sometimes it seems to take a while for the processing to finish. If it doesn't sort itself out in the next few hours, please let me know and I'll try reuploading

@@nobody8328 Honestly, I know several other channels that have this problem; I have also noticed myself that when I create a video and then upload it through KZbin on my phone, the audio can be heard immediately. When I try to upload it through my laptop, even though it says processing is completed, and it shows up to be viewed, it can take hours before the sound catches up. I have no idea why we all have this problem uploading videos, but it's almost across the board. It doesn't have anything to do with the type of content either, because I don't upload stories and neither do the other channels I'm talking about. It just seems to be some hangup in the KZbin studio where it may take anywhere from several minutes to several hours for the audio to load completely depending on how many minutes the video is and what you use to upload it.

I feel just like a girl in front of a sweet shop when I see your newest upload Simon! I want to clap my hands and jump up and down but I'd surely hurt myself at my age. You make my eyes twinkle like a school girl and I have no shame in admitting it! And just like the very special treat it is, I make myself wait for the quietest time to listen and savor every word. You, dear Simon, are a master auditor and I wish I had ever so much more than kind words to gift back to you. ❤

@@waningmooncancer9628 your comment reminded me instantly of my mum, who also is a Bite-sized audio devotee, who, at all of her grandchildren's games and matches, stands throughout by choice so therefore always at the ready to jump up and down clapping at some winning play! She is 70 however looks a good 15 years younger, is fit and, well I guess youthful is the appropriate word but she's just.... herself, really. Last weekend someone asked her does it hurt her knees or her feet to jump up and down like that, how does she do it?? And her answer~which she had to think about for a second, was, "I guess I just don't know how NOT to do it" Which I think meant that if you start thinking you can't any longer do this or that so you just never do it again.... It's basically just becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. I can think of nothing that she does on a daily basis that she wasn't doing 5 10 30 years ago, she even packs the grocery shopping so that it's as heavy as possible, to keep herself challenged. I understand not everyone is going to be able to do that sort of thing but she also has a saying, "if you rest, you'll rust"!!

I listened to this in the dusk of evening on the terrace overlooking the garden and felt the tension grow as the story progressed. Nicely read and paced. These older ghost stories are strangely compelling and it s great to see that they are kept alive and unforgotten in this way. We all appreciate the time and effort involved.

Great story. Your narration added immensely. So often, even with other excellent narrators, it’s common to not be able to discriminate one character’s voice from another. Never the case with you. Even though a member of the Psychical Society, the librarian exhibited an undue amount of cowardice, letting his friend enter the bombed-out building, not just alone, but without telling him what he saw and failing to answer questions being only interested in running away. Not an admirable fellow.

Thanks for your comments David, I really appreciate that, especially as I've recently had a couple of people giving feedback that I don't differentiate enough between character voices. Best wishes PS I concur with your assessment of the librarian!

Thank you for acquainting me with two new unfamiliar - though amazingly prolific - authors, with this intriguing story, as ever, finely performed! I wonder how unusual such a 'real-estate situation' might be in late-Victorian London? But Bernard Capes must have known what he was doing. The mention of "dynamiters" reminds me of the astonishing More New Arabian Nights: The Dynamiter (1885) by R.L. and F. Stevenson.

Dearest Simon, can’t believe my good fortune in being able to hear your wonderful voice again after such a long time. KZbin has been unkind to me for several months now, telling me I must “update” my information to remain in good standing. Unfortunately, my dear deceased brother took the required info with him --wherever he now is. Don’t know if KZbin has taken me back into its fold permanently or if this a one-time fluke. Just know that the gang and I are still huge fans and are listening whenever the fickle fates allow. Also, someone in Jamaica snitched my bank account information and, consequently, I am waiting for a new debit card in the mail so I can once again be a member of Bitesized Audios.
