BITS vs. IITs. What sets BITS apart? Zero reservation, 0% attendance, make your own timetable, electives, international internship opportunities, practice school system, and alumni support.

Additional comments on some points- 1) About the point on reservation, again, I can't comment on whether reservation is good or bad. I am not a law/policy maker. But nonetheless, there are some consequences of having/not having reservation, which I have shared. 2) About the last part about IITs, I by no means want to convey that IITs are inferior to BITS (especially the old ones). The oldest IITs also have exceptional peer quality and provide you with great exposure. I just mentioned ONE aspect in which BITS shines. Maybe the people I spoke to were misinformed themselves, but in any case, this video provides you some additional points to keep in mind while choosing your college. You can speak about these points to students of those colleges and get a better opinion, and then make a better informed decision.

I beg to differ. I find it really great. People generally complain about it not being updated and all, but that is the case almost everywhere in India, and if you understand any concept, you will be able to apply it anywhere, be it an old system or new. What I do like about the course structure is the equal emphasis on theoretical aspects, which is missing from the curricula of even some IITs.

You said that we can attend any class we want. Does that go same for labs too?
@everythingbitsatfromabitsi341
@everythingbitsatfromabitsi341 5 жыл бұрын
Great question! For labs it would depend on a case by case basis. It depends on whether free resources are available (PCs, machines etc.). You can always speak to the course instructor, and he/she will most definitely try to accommodate you if possible. If it's something computer based, you can collect the lab sheet and solve it on your laptop. To be clear, the above applies to labs you are not registered in, but still want to attend. For the labs that you are registered in, you'll mostly attend the section assigned to you as there will be evaluation in every lab. But that doesn't matter much because labs do not differ much at all from one instructor to another.

It's just that I wanted to get some clarity on these higher studies abroad. Thank you.
@everythingbitsatfromabitsi341
@everythingbitsatfromabitsi341 2 жыл бұрын
No it's not a semester exchange since you're not a student there, taking classes etc. You have been invited there as an intern or research assistant to the professor. Hence they pay you instead of you paying them. Off campus thesis is independent of tie-ups. You apply to them yourself, the college just transfers your credits and counts the thesis towards your degree completion.

@@saketpandey8897 yes that's why I said speak to someone from KGP in that branch and check if IT/finance companies allow students of agri to sit for placements. Sometimes, these "unconventional" courses are held away from the main campus, so make sure that is not the case. Either way, you still might be better off going for CS rather than agri. It's easier said than done that you'll learn programming on your own. Also if you plan to go for higher studies later in CS, having a CS degree already will help. 6 years ago, I was in a similar position and I chose Pilani Physics. I do not regret it one bit.

I would really love to do so, but I myself am not informed about BITS HD well enough so as to be able to make a meaningful video on it. To answer some of your questions though, there are two ways in which you can get into BITS for ME. One is the BITS HD exam, and the other is GATE. You can choose either. I am not aware of the cutoffs. As far as the placement scenario goes, at least for CS I can tell you that the ME packages are absolutely at par with BE packages within the same company, if not slightly more. In EEE/EnI etc., there are some companies like Intel, who usually do not take any BE students but do take a lot of ME students. A lot of other information can be found here- www.bitsadmission.com/hdmain.aspx?id=1262015 I hope this helps.

I have a question that ive been asking, but i havent yet gotten a good reply. I talked to a 3rd year student at pilani campus and i asked him about the internet facilities at hostels, according to him, at day time the internet is really bad and u cant even watch KZbin on it let alone play online or do some other work, at the same time i talked to a 1st year student and according to him u get constant 17MBps, (megabyte not bit) with great ping. I understand that a 1st year student who opted for bits over IIT might feel insecure and want to overglorify his college but at the same time, since he is the one who lives there, i cant really question his answer. I really wish someone would give me an unbiased answer about internet at pilani campus ( main uses will be following online coursera courses, youtube, gaming) and i was hoping u could help me with it 😁. I have talked to people at goa campus and they said that there they have a 3gb per day limit on internet usage. If its a similar case at pilani campus please do inform me about that too. Edit: i heard about the intranet system at bits and everyone seems to agree that it is blazing fast, however i still would like to know about the internet since gaming is a major factor for me.
