It's so hard to improve on Uematsu's original anything but this is a gorgeous rendition.

+Barney Warney it's improvable, because FF7 was a Playstation title, and the Playstation had a limited sound chip, which constrained the choices in terms of instruments and tone. I'm curious about the musics in the upcoming remake.
@Masterlink019 жыл бұрын
+Giulio Franco That's if the game uses sequenced music; the PS1 was fully capable of using streamed sound. The only limitation was probably the size, but that's because of the CDs, not because of the console.
@ironjohnjohn92889 жыл бұрын
Giulio Franco Even then though I often prefer the originals. There's alot of hyperbole gets thrown around but I think you can hear Uematsu's genius, just feels you change one thing in the whole and it's just not quite as good. That said I have loads of Bitsymphony's work because it is wonderful to have it fully rendered with proper instruments and production.

Are we on a spree here? I thought: "Oh well, another remake! That's nice to see... Fighting? FIGHTING? Hell yeah!" And honestly, I made something to eat, ate it here at my desk while I started up this video (with headphones on of course) and once it reached 55 seconds my eyes opened wide and I had goosebumps over both arms at which point I cranked my headset up to full volume. Hell yeah, that is genuinely a well made remake. It's aggressive, it's loud, it's dominant, like the original. Just like a "Fighting"-theme should be. Very well done, sir! And on another note: If I ever get to play Final Fantasy 7 on Steam, your remakes will very well be incorporated in replacing the Midi music!

One thousand versions here on youtube but this one... just the f****** best!!!
@KevinMacku8 жыл бұрын
This is probably the best remaster of FF7's "Fighting" I've heard. Others like to shy away from some of the high notes or mess with the balance, and this one did everything "right." The only thing I miss is the percussive sound during the climbing scale section (some folks say it's an "aah", but it always sounded like a hammer on iron to me, though the sound's easily replicable by clapping two wood blocks together). It's a silly little thing, but that hint of "industry" during the first fight scenes in the Mako Reactor just really bound everything together, atmospherically.

Great choice of instruments and the mastering is great alltogether, too! The only thing that I noticed is that either the compressor sometimes does weird things and leaves too much of the transierent or you used a transient shaper in a very harsh way...? :D
@gigimava9 жыл бұрын
Optimized for headphones? Are you using binaural phases to expand the sound? They sound great, but I don't think it's a good idea to use them like this. You get a soundtrack which can only be listened to with headphones, otherwise you get weird sound vacuums. Plus, even with headphones, I'm getting weird volume changes, possibly because youtube reduces the stereo differences for a more efficient encoding. Other than that, I think it's awesome.
@BitSymphony9 жыл бұрын
+Giulio Franco All the songs are optimized for headphones, it's just a disclaimer/reminder of how people should hear tem in order to fully enjoy the songs. Nowadays its very common for people to listen to music on laptop speakers, smartphone and tablet speakers, and all of them are terrible if you don't own a nice set of headphones. Yes, youtube does encode the sound and video even further, it's a bit of a loss of quality. Thank you!

Would be very appreciated if you mentioned that you rip off the midi and only change the midi with very very slight loops and modifications! Pay some respect for the original midi editors
@BitSymphony9 жыл бұрын
+Henric Emdenborg I've heard that type of comment before. What proof do you have of such claim? Now that you mention, please provide the midi you are talking about, i would gladly compare it to my song project. I'm sure there will be a lot of similarities (not to mention that everything should be almost the same, note by note), because... it's the same song! Working with midi's is a hassle, you get a lot of waste like badly quantized notes, unconsistent note velocities and lengths, unwanted expression commands, errors, wrong notes on wrong instruments and other issues that are truly a mess. They were made to be used with some synths, not sample based VST's. And to clean it up and make it suitable for proper use with different VST's takes so much time and so much effort that it's better to start clean and from scratch. I work with the original song on the background, i set the right tempo on the project until it is almost perfectly synchronized, i choose an instrument and open a VST i find the most suitable to it, than i work roughly on the notes on each of the instruments, i do this with the song on the background playing at a lower volume so i make sure it matches the original and sounds good. This is easy, anyone with a little of music background or a trained ear can do it. Now, the most time consuming part and most difficult one i find is to add the different velocities, expressions, volumes, equalization, effects, all the VST's tweaks, and finally the mastering process. This is what defines the final sound and differentiates the average songs from the good ones. And that is the part i invest the most and have been trying to improve over the years. So, no my friend, i do not have to mention anyone, and the only person i should pay some respect to is Nobuo Umetasu himself because he is the author of this song. Without him i probably would have never had the idea of creating this channel in the first place. I think i have been very clear to you and have explained in detail how i work, if you don't like what i do i am very sorry, it's the best i can do and i am always trying to improve. I will soon make a video of me making a song, explaining how and commenting about it. Stay tuned!
@andersson93339 жыл бұрын
+BitSymphony +BitSymphony Thanks for the lengthy response, and I really appreciated the effort you are putting into these videos and of course I am paying you respect for you making these. I, however, beg to think differently though. Yes, you are sort of the "composer " of those, and I can not technically prove that you indeed downloaded the midi forms, put it into FL/ Ableton, and then changed the VSTs. That is my personal presumption. Kudos to you if you midi keyed everything by yourself. You are doing a good job of putting the right VSTs on the midi track, mixing and setting the sound right obviously. Your views talk for themselves. My only point was that midi takes a huge time to key. Melodies and the creative aspect all lies in the midi track. I bet you can agree on that you can listen to " Still more fighting" with only the midi track imported with just one simple lead synth representing the notes, and it would still sound amazing. Nobou Uemtsu is amazing, indeed. Please make a video how you make these! Sorry if the response is short, wrote this on my phone lol
@BitSymphony9 жыл бұрын
Thank you Henric! :) yes, the midis sound amazing already by themselves, i mean, the songs are beautifully crafted. It does take some time, depending on the song, to craft a midi track from scratch. I have done this in the past and in the case of this song this is the 3rd version i make, this time i grabbed the older 2nd version project and edited it, worked on it again, so it wasn't to time consuming. Yes, the idea of making a video with me working on a song sounds nice. I will think and work on that too.
