You know what I would picture for a scene like this? There’s an artist, maybe a dancer, who’s recently had all her dreams shattered. She feels completely purposeless. But slowly as the song builds, she gets up off the floor of her studio to do something, anything, to calm the pulsing dread and sadness she feels (the repetition of the low notes.) the melody trickling in is her first getting up onto her feet, starting to move, getting her senses back. Maybe she doesn’t really know why she’s doing it, maybe she stops partway through, when the pulsing gets louder again, and she feels too lost and heartbroken to stay moving. But she does, stay moving, alone in her studio. And as the scene fades all that’s left is that steady beat. Is it the sound of her dread or the sound of her footfalls?
@evilsuguru4 жыл бұрын
yeah it sorta reminds me of superhero movie where someone that is close to the superhero gets killed and then the protagonist becomes depressed and doesn't do anything for a long time. then they begin to train themself again and get back into shape even though it's hard, they do it only for the person they lost.

So, this is the apocalypse. You find a carton of milk in the fridge of an abandoned school. You haven't eaten in a week. nah i can see why some ppl would dislike this. the piano is really doing virtually all of the work; the actual "composition" is very basic. the amazing sound this piano produces seems kind of wasted, playing a "piece" that consists of literally: 3 minor chords on the left hand, repeated throughout the entire song, along with one single chord on the right hand, until he ///breaks the creative mold/// with what amounts to basically scales in the key, and even, occasionally, in octaves (wow!!!). the acoustic quality of the piano is rly cool so it's worth watching just for that, but the music doesn't even come close to meeting its potential

You’ve run away from home. The freshly slick road slicing through the expanse of trees stretched in front of you. Your home is no longer insight, days put between you and those who you have left. The churning sensation of remorse and emptiness begins to well up inside you, but you brush it aside. It had to happen, before things got worse. You write it off as hunger, which isn’t far from the truth, as you haven’t eaten a substantial meal in how long? Was it a day, or five? You consider turning around, but you’ve come this far. Eventually, in the distance, you glimpse an abnormally shaped tree? No- a water tower, barely holding up through the dense fog. You set off in the that direction, and soon lights begin to appear as the forest begins to loosen around you. You’re now in an alley way, behind a of a 7-11. You enter, and start packing away in your bag a tin of Pringle’s, Reese’s, Oreos, other goods, and a carton of milk. Of course you wouldn’t be able to afford this, but fortunately, the clerk had to take care of a spontaneous flooding of the bathroom. You sneak out, and as soon as it’s clear, you break into mad dash before you’re caught. You find a dumpster to hide behind, next to a small, run-down apartment complex, and you finally can rest. You break open the Oreos, and shovel three into your mouth, the sweetest thing you’ve tasted in a while. You proceed to wash them down with the milk taking in massive gulps at a time. However, at the 4th, you gag and spit it onto the wet pavement. The. Milk. Was. Bitter. Not bitter, repulsive. You check the expiration date, it reads way past that. You bend over and unload the rest to your side. White poison- that’s what it is. It’s polluted your very life for the past five months, ever since your father left go buy some.

Past me, I'm sorry you didn't know what was to come. The pain. The pure nausea. It was not worth it. I wish I had never loved. He was my first and perhaps my last. I doubt I can love anymore. Please, future me, if you ever return here, I hope you have found how to love again. You deserve to. For love is a beautiful feeling, but the price we pay for it is not light. Ok look down at the edits for some better info too It seems like he is using the celeste/mute pedal that puts a piece of felt between the strings and hammers, also he put the microphones behind the piano which also makes is sound different and also gives it a warm,muted tone, also the fact that all the lids are off the piano and just playing softly and sorta "carefully" Edit:forgot to mention it sounds out of tune if you listen to some of the notes which also makes some of the warmness and mutedness Edit again:I got my Korg Sp170s 2 days ago and it doesnt seen like hes using any fancy tricks really except the mute pedal, I noticed when i play at a certain volume on those notes I get the same tone but not as muted as his,but only when I play carefully and delicately on the keys, I dont think theres any shenanigans except that you can see that he is using the celeste pedal, mics behind piano, lids off and just playing softly and delicately.

The room was heated by an old radiator, there was a movable wooden staircase that went up to one of the windows, and it was lit by a single bare lightbulb hanging by a wire from the ceiling. In the center of the room was the dusty console of a pipe organ, and the pipes sprung up the back wall. The room feels like nobody has set foot in it in decades. I brought my cello up there once at night and played Bach; the music played itself, I've never played so effortlessly. It was like a cellist much older than me was guiding my hands around the fingerboard. A student was murdered in the other tower in the 1960s, and there are rumors that she haunts the hall, playing an unseen organ at night and locking doors behind people. Realistically it's probably organ students coming up to the tower to practice, but there's some kind of magic in that room. I hope that the organ really is playing itself. I was in a whirlwind of a love affair then. They played the violin, and for the short time that that door was accidentally unlocked, we would sneak up there between rehearsals and play music. I would sit on the stairs under the window while they leaned against the organ and the Bach G minor violin sonata bounced off the walls and ceiling. Sometimes I would take out my cello and play the Bach suites... something about that room required music as confectionary as Bach's works for solo strings. That room ran a fine line between being unnerving and being welcoming. It was like it was possessed by a wild spirit of music who was madly in love with the magic of playing purely for oneself, mocking the beauty of the hall below and its 2,040 seats waiting for a critical audience to inhabit them. I've never played as well as I did in that room, my hands guided by that spirit, my sound echoed and amplified by the cavernous ceiling... my eyes locked with my love's. I was too much for them in the end: too unstable, too melancholy, too prone to believing the worst about myself. I still love them deeply, even though they're a different person than they were then. I'm a different person too. I hope they still love me. Every part of this story is true, by the way. Let me know if you know where I went to music school and I'll give you directions to the room.

Usually music, ANY MUSIC, does not make me feel any way or make me stop and just listen, but this is almost hypnotizing and it took my breath away for a second, and I felt shivers throughout my whole body. I’m strangely drawn to this, so much that I didn’t scroll through the comments with the video playing...

You open your eyes. All you see is a dark lab room with flashing red lights, and a window that gazes into the depths of space and the stars beyond. You look down, and realize that you are not the person you have been led to believe. Where are you? Symbols of an alien language flash red in a language that seems strangely familiar, that you can somehow comprehend. The words say "Emergency. Power lost." You hear explosions growing louder and louder, and as memories come back of the life that once was, your vision fades away and you are embraced by nothingness. The simulation has failed. You open your eyes once more...

How can someone be so talented at this... you turn such a simple piece somewhat of a Mozart style... maybe even Beethoven. It’s like you can hear the back story of the music... as if it were a story.. truly amazing, you have a gift

So that got in the recomendation on my home page while I was watching youtube videos with ny sister and her boybriend on the TV collectively. I would have put this on the TV but my style of music youtube videos is not their type we were more in the lyrical music than instrumental only in the kusic we were listening. So I saddly didn't got to play this on the TV before they left. So I actually got to the piano and do random improvisation and this turned out to bebthe coolest improvisation I did on the piano in my opinion. But saddly it will never be played like that ever again because imrpov is improv. And in my mind I had your thumbnail in mind as an inspiration. I love the style of your thumbnail as much as I like how you play the piano! So that was a short story I felt like sharing for some reasons idk....

I love doing improv, it can be very beautiful sometimes. Well at least it would be nice if I can actually play the instrument first--

You can try and hide but it will always find you. As you open a new door memories that don’t belong to you start to seem as if they do. They remind you of your past. Of your trauma. They remind you how you’ll never recover. Never get over the bullshit. But then you find a happy memory. One that opens a new hidden room in the building. And it seems you’ll be okay. If you stay in that room forever it is. So you decide to do that. You spend years in that room. But soon you will have to come out. You have to face the trauma that wasn’t your fault and was all at the same time. You prepare yourself with all the ropes and knives you can find. As you walk out you realize that you can’t. You can’t face it. So then what will you do? You’ll run away from that building. You’ll move to a different city and soon you’ll be okay. Every once in a while you remember that. What happened for all those years. But you’ll be okay it’ll be okay. You say to yourself. And then before you know it. Before you could actually face your trauma or go back to your building you decay. And no ones there to see atleast hopefully you thought. It’s time to decay.

it's probably someone who uses youtube music, trying to curate their playlist. This is beautiful, but I could see how it could be too slow for some

It's minimalism and minimalism can be quite difficult to get into. It often is considered boring and non-creative. I like the music very much but I can totally understand people who are just annoyed by the same melody over amd over again with small variations. And please, for the love of whoever, could everyone stop implying that people who dislike music that you like just didn't listen to it or don't understand it? I don't like most of Mozarts work, although I've listened to it and I am musically educated enough to "understand" it" as far as you can understand music. He was a genius, he wrote complicated shit but I just don't like the music. Why am I not allowed to dislike it?

This is beautiful. Thanks for recording this. I have the same piano (or very similar as you). I love the tone that you are getting. Is the felt something you did yourself? I think I can see you made little cuts this time. I've been trying to do the same with my piano but somehow it ends up too muted...
