The only reason I can think of for early declaration was there were predictions of possible rain on the last day. But agreed, could have given atleast an hour more till tea for KL in the middle. Ashwin's record overseas goes against him in the allrounder discussion. At home, it's a lot closer. More than calling him the India's greatest all-rounder, there's a real chance of calling him the greatest Indian match winner at home. Ruturaj Gaikwad averages 42 in First Class, there are a lot of players who average way more than him and have been piling on the runs. ODI cricket is his best format where he can take time at the start and then score very quickly at the end, him being present in discussion for Test Cricket is only because he plays for CSK.

Valid insights thanks for sharing 👍🏽 Overseas Jaddu was picked ahead of Ashwin and yes the pitches doesn't suit his style of bowling. When it comes to subcontinent, there is no stopping him.

@sportshustler3344, it was very detailed comment ! Thanks for your support ! Still feel the scientist is one of the best all rounders India has produced ! Off course his record in India is way better as compared to outside India, but thats the same with James Anderson as well ! Anderson away average is more than 30 , which includes SA, Australia and West Indies which supports pace bowling as well ! Whereas Ashwin away record is bad only in SA and Australia (average more than 40 😢) but to be fair he has played less than 10 matches each in these countries .. his average in England and west Indies is 27 and 20 respectively ... I just hope, BCCI builds the scientist a Lab in Chepauk as a tribute !! With ashwins good record with both bat and ball in England, did India miss the trick by not playing Ashwin in the last WTC finals? 🤔

Thing is Ashwin hasn’t got enough chances abroad sheerly because of Jadeja already being a spinner. Ashwin has always done well abroad and improved everytime he’s toured outside India so it’s unfair to hold that against him. He was key with bat and ball last time we toured Australia
