One thing which I can't understand is, we already pay 30% taxes even before our salary is credited. If we put remaining amount in some savings scheme, we pay taxes while we get that return. Then with the remaining amount if we buy a car, we pay huge taxes on top of the car. For ex, if a car is 17L ex-showroom, the additional taxes and surcharges take it to 24L or even more. Kudos to those ppl who don't pay a single penny while doing businesses, demand to be paid in cash, while driving good cars and buying properties.

While most of the cars are cheap in US, there are lot's of vehicles which america doesn't get. e.g. landcruiser, Peugeot cars, Seat cars, lot's of estate version of german cars, latest golfs, TDI tourages and Q7s, and many more. However, don't forget that in US, showroom charges insane amount on the top of MSRP. For example, to you a new corvette you will have to pay anywhere from 25k -75k over msrp. For porsches this could be even higher. Another thing is high insurance cost.

I earned 100 lac. I paid 30 lac as income tax, remaining 60 lakh. I bought fortuner with this 60 lakh in which I roughly paid 35 lakh as tax, so remaining 25 lac. So basically I have paid 75% of my income paying taxes only. I paid around 3.2 lacs of total taxes including RTO on Brezza which was only 5 lacs something without taxes. This is more than 50% taxes on under 10 lacs car. Then we have toll tax, tax on petrol, taxes on all accessories, tax on insurance too. All have GST component.

Advertisement as the worlds cheapest car and not as a smartly engineered affordable car. Even Ratan sir explained about this in one of his interviews. 2. The 1 Lakh Rupee promise was fulfilled but only for the first 10k customers because of inflation, it quickly rose to 1.5 Lakhs after that so it had a negative impact on people's mind. No one wants to buy a 1 Lakh Rupee car for 1.5 Lakhs. 3. Problems and issues. There are multiple Nanos which caught fire and had Nggles. families who have a budget around that much would rather go with Alto's because they don't wanna get burned and simply want peace of mind. 4. Nanos prices after GenX came, entered into Alto's ek showroom prices. Who will buy a Nano in the price where Alto is available? It was a failed product due to various reasons. Now how about simply moving on and forgetting about it to focus on the newer cars that the company is introducing? Crying about it won't make it a better car.

Also since u are not too bright. Here is a simple calculation..if I have to buy a car worth ex show room of 25 lacs how much do u need to earn roughly? Ans ,50 lacs.. out of this 50 lacs I will pay 30% tax so 15+50 = 35? Then 28% GST so 25 lacs 28% = 7 lacs.. 35-7 = 28.. rest 3 lacs road tax insurance and more.. infact rad tax registration ect would be more thn 5 lacs here.. now tell me how much did u paid for this car But don't let's that blind u from ur bhakti

In this regard, We should not learn from USA other than infrastructures. But more like Europe, Europe has fantastic public transport network. If India builds Public transport like Europe, Indian Railways can help it, and to an extent public bus and metros. We would require less cars and bikes, so that our infra could handle it. There was a study which showed country (usa in this study) can fix it's traffic problem by building public transport instead of making extra lanes. It's sustainable development, and hand to hand govt. also reduces tax it will be great.

Air India was acquired by govt. and paid huge losses, instead we could have developed our railways by that money. Railways are used by poor,common man, upper middle class, rich. But Airways, majority are used by rich and very few times by poors and common man. It was huge blunder to make airways govt in hope that poors will get the benefit but almost benefit was given to already rich people. Air India should have been privatized in late 70s itself, by then Govt. knew it's not helping needy but only helping those who don't need help. Govt. could have regulated heavily. Nothing to worry, the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago and today.

High speed trains for intercity and semi high for suburbs are good options. Plus Bus fleets in most states need serious modernisation. Overall it's capital intensive venture . And govt simply doesn't have that much money. PPP is an option but there are structural difficulties . But good news is RRTS and Bullet trains are coming soon

I recently bought an i20 sportz for 8.9 lakh total on road. I was planning from one year. Pehle itne me Nexon, Sonnet jesa car aata tha. I wish ye paise one year pehle mere paas hota to me wo hi leta. But I had to stick to hatchback rather than a subcompact SUV. PS: I love my i20. Extremely good drive quality and comfort. It appears as though someone from govt is telling car makers unofficially to raise prices every 4 months because higher prices get govt more revenue by way of taxes. Especially, Fortuner. Because govt and Toyota know the Fortuner customers. 90% are politicians for whom 50 lakh rupees is pocket change. For them it is a prestige car and they will buy it even at 80 lakhs. Hence, it is adding 10 lakhs to its price every 18 months.

We are not talking about the cost but the taxes. I paid around 3.2 lacs of total taxes including RTO on Brezza which was only 5 lacs something without taxes. This is more than 50% taxes on under 10 lacs car. Then we have toll tax, tax on petrol, taxes on all accessories, tax on insurance too. All have GST component.
