Disclaimer Prices mentioned in the Video are in Pakistani rupees and not in INR. But still cars there are significantly expensive in India. As mentioned at 1:20 Corolla altis should be 36,75,000 PKR but it is 61 lakh, and here we are only talking about ex factory prices only, after that there are tons of taxes which are applied. We should’ve clarify that with more clarity.

Ofcourse the difference is still pretty daunting even though. Another example would be that of a Toyota Fortuner which costs around 35-36 lakhs INR in India and around 58-59 lakhs INR in Pakistan i.e, 2.11 crores PKR

Most probably I read this on a newspaper some years ago that back in the '80s one prominent pakistani cricketer (Miandad I think) used to brag in the media that how India is lagging so much behind Pakistan economically. He said they are getting all the latest American/European cars whereas India is still stuck with ambassador. Tbh the statement was true to some extent. We indeed had the licence raj and a closed economy. And not to forget we sided with the Soviets whereas they had full American support in pretty much everything. They got millions & millions during Soviet Afghan war. Anyway, they had every chance to build an automobile industry but they didn't. They just kept on importing. And I guess we all know what happens with depleting reserve and trade deficit💁🏻♀️. But seriously... A car is one highly complex machine... I get that but how come they don't have an indigenous bike company?😅 Even Bangladesh has one
@mranon5134 Жыл бұрын
Well one of the big reasons for our Nehruvian government to employ a closed economy because our post-Independence leaders didn't wanted another foreign influence like the *East Indian Company* to exploit our religious fault-lines and resources. Not that I am personally in favour of Nehru myself. But his overall non-alignment policies in geopolitical, economical and social aspects was made in accordance of his fear of the already crippled India falling even further into a foreign hand. from his perspective.

One more difference is waha pe Hindu , parsi businesses pe rok lagaa di , but INDIA mein Tata , wipro jaisi m ! N ority community ke business houses bhi flourish hue ! Many sindhi businessmen had to leave their belongings and come to India , same with Sikh from Punjab who had to migrate to bhartiya Punjab

You have missed multiple crucial factors: (1) Pakistan's automobile industry had also started with a similar condition/stipulation/provision for indigenous parts manufacturing. But the assemblers kept presenting the excuse that complete localisation was not feasible as volume of annual sales was less than 200000 units per company. The authorities "accepted" this excuse as their "personal interests" were also well served (2) Exchange Rate is about 1 INR=3.32 PKR. Therefore, a car costing 10 lacs in India automatically costs 33 lacs in Pakistan EVEN IF NO OTHER FACTORS COME INTO PLAY. You have totally ignored vital root causes

Because india govt has no option in 1991.Congress is the only reason behind India's defult in 1991.If UPA is so globalisation friendly why they are protesting against stake sell in govt companies .Monmohan sing had no option in 1991 but you people are praising him for globalisation.

Absolutely not: 1. The LPG reforms were not formulated, they are imposed by IMF on every defaulting country. The template is called "Bretton Woods convention"(Please read about it on wiki at least). It is a set of predefined conditionalities which include land, labour and tariff reforms, welfare and subsidy reduction; privatization and austerity measures such as reduction of govt employees. 2. Most countries agree to them and don't follow through. India is still trying to do the land and labour reforms for instance. IMF gives money despite non compliance because they know it causes political instability. 3. So the credit goes to the leader who follows through and faces the political heat. In our case it was Narasimha Rao who took the heat and MMS who took the credit. 4. On the foresight of indigenisation policy, people forget it was Vajpayee who first enforced them on Suzuki. Let me remind people that our country is known for passing fantastic sounding laws and zero follow through. People should find a way of watching the whooping Pramod Mahajan gave the media when the govt had allowed Suzuki to sell Maruti, & cut staff and costs in exchange for implementation of indigenisation. Unfortunately it's not available on YT. 5. India's first wave of development of indigenous products like Tata Ace, Nano, Indica and REVAi happened during Vajpayee's tenure due to the cost competitive wages in India. UPA policies made it easier for people to return to villages instead of struggling in cities. 6. India's second wave of automotive manufacturing success is a post 2015 phenomenon. Indias future success will hinge on successful implementation of semiconductor, Li battery and manufacturing PLIs plus people needing to work. If you keep feeding people and paying them to open and close ditches with printed money, good luck.

Pakistan just wanted a separated Muslim country no plans of the future or nothing. Like literally they have no plans to buy or built accessories but want another home. That's why people r fighting for every small thing there like rice is so expensive there now. Cars is just a dream for max people. It's like earlier when someone had a Maruti 800 or Ambassador, people considered them rich and ones having a bigger segment cars like old Mercedes and all were considered millionaires. It's quite the same in Pakistan. The Fortuner Legender costs some 2 crores there, like in 2 crores u will get a Land Cruiser in India but in Pakistan a Legender only. Like it's so miserable
