@MATS0ZETEX Fair enough. I wasn't implying that efficiency equates to overall quality. Especially in garbage, no name PSU's. Still when purchasing a system, I would personally feel infinitely times better going for a power supply with at least a bronze rating, the fact that this Great Wall power supply only said 80+, that's kind of a dealbreaker for me, even if it was from Corsair, Seasonic, or EVGA, I still would not feel comfortable getting a power supply without a solid rating of bronze or better

@@HCkev It's TOO basic for a gaming PC. Limited RAM expansion. No M.2 support. (It really should have come with an M.2 SSD and a suitable motherboard, but I understand Bitwit not wanting to throw more of his own money into upgrading a system he is giving away.) No USB 3.1 ports. Unacceptable for a rig at this level of aspiration and an original $1400 price tag. (It was OK when they were closing them out at $1000.)
@HCkev
@HCkev 5 жыл бұрын
Shirley Márquez Dúlcey You say that because your requirements as an enthusiast are much higher than the average joe. The target consumer for this PC won't ever need more than 32GB of RAM, if they ever need more than the 16GB included. They also wouldn't see any difference between a SATA SSD and a M.2 SSD. As for USB 3.1, sure that's a compromise, but aside from external SSDs, which the target consumer for that PC won't have, there is really not much stuff that really take advantage of it. Don't put down a Toyota Yaris just because you're used to a Mercedes. It's basic, but those compromises aren't going to be a deal breaker for the people looking for that PC.

Yeah that's nonsense. Having only one dimm stops you from using dual channel memory. 1 dimm per channel is actually prefered by a lot of extreme overclockers, for example, because the signal pathways are shorter. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed.

The ghetto USB upgrade is the reason I like having a case with drive bays. My behemoth CoolerMaster ATCS 840 is old (bought it for my X58 build back in '09), but adding front panel USB 3.1 A and C ports was easy with a 2.5" bay hub. The case suits my Z370 build quite nicely despite not having a window to show off the RGB. This case will likely remain upgradable to the latest I/O for many more years to come due to the front expansion bays.

@@ghomerhust Doesn't every chipset properly support dual channel only if you have 2 matching sticks? Either way it's irrelevant; what Kyle said was "For instance, you only get one dimm per channel which blows any chance of you running dual-channel memory" which makes no sense whatsoever.
@Jito463

According to Intel, the H310 supports 1 stick per channel. "# of DIMMs per channel : 1" ark.intel.com/products/133348/Intel-H310-Chipset Now, whether that means it's literally incapable of dual-channel, or if Intel is just being confusing in their terminology, I can't say. It sounds to me like there's two channels and each one supports only a single DIMM. We've got a basic system at work with an H310 board in it, I suppose I should pull it out and see if it actually does run dual-channel or not.
@offthegeekend
@offthegeekend 5 жыл бұрын
@@Jito463 Correct, 1 stick per channel. Dual Channel means 2 separate channels used together. 2 Channels x 1 DIMM slot per Channel = 2 DIMM slots, which is what this board has. All the 300 series chipset boards support the use of dual channel memory.

For the air filtration, I would recommend using coarse filter pad like this product on amazon "Classic Koi Pond Filter Pad COARSE - 12 Inches by 48 Inches by 3/4 inch to 1 Inch - BLACK Bulk Roll Pond Filter Media", cut strips 3/4-1 inch wide strips that you would use to frame it ( a rectangular frame the same shape as the black frame on the filter you bought at 5:02)- then use double stick tape to adhere the filter strips to the case. Once the front glass is put back on, the filter is thick enough to fill that air space, yet porous enough not to restrict air flow too much- and it won't be interfering with the fans at all since it's only surrounding them as a frame. Nice review and nice mods on the PC!

@Dhars his comment isn't considering that a couple of spacers would be negligible for air recirculation. You just need a fraction of space to prevent the blades from hitting the filter, not a friggin inch. Hot air recirculation is generally seen in improperly done setups. This is bringing cool air in and sucking hot air out the back. That negative pressure from the exhaust fan is enough to compensate for a few small washers.
