It's kind of like an advanced version of tomogatchi which was the first digital pet. It's a step towards hologram for sure. Just hologram tech right now is still very pricey in some regards.

The way the screen flapping works is it has an electromagnet built into the display flex, and a permanent magnet underneath. By timing how the electromagnet swaps polarity, it can sync up the row of RGB LEDs to produce different colored pixels. While PoV displays are nothing new, I think it's the first time I've seen it done linearly.

When anything issues a warning for "medical devices" when referring to magnets, I'm not sure what else is effected, but I know that pacemakers are fairly sensitive to magnets and should be kept away. This could be important perhaps if the child is playing near a grandparent who has a pacemaker.

If you have a pacemaker you should probably stay away from it, I think that’s what they mean about the second one. It can cause it stop working. I don’t have seizures but I find it hard to look at for too long.

It's certainly a neat idea! I'm kinda curious about it. Also they just announced the new furbies. Not quite the sort of digital pet that you normally do videos on but it's kinda sorta similar in some ways. It's interesting that this thing the new tamagotchi and the new furby are all coming out in July. I'm hoping it'll mean they'll all be on sale by the holidays though and that it signals good things for people who like digital pets.

ty for the review! personally ive been cautious about picking this up especially with the uni coming out soon. i feel like the led strip is going to break so easily, especially if given to a kid. also the articles about it touting it as "the sellout holiday toy" really sends red flags to me, "buy now before it sells out" just seems like a reason to get paranoid parents to buy up these things in droves on the off chance it is what their kid wants

If it were me I'd return it back to Wal-Mart & get back the $50... 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️ This will be one of those toy's a kid play's with for 5 minutes max then never touches again... 🤷‍♀️

I just don't think it's worth more than that for what it is & what it can do... 🤷‍♀️ I'm a little on the picky side as to what I buy when it comes to Toy's~ 🤷‍♀️ For me if it involves technology, mechanical & I'm paying for it. I want top notch toy not a second rate 2 bit hack. It's like comparing tamagotchi's (which have been around for year's but have got better over time in my opinion) comparing that to this second rate 2 bit of a hack knock off toy. Hope you like the toy. I'll save the $30 for good nintendo switch game personally~ 🤷‍♀️✌️

Definitely an interesting toy, but the flashing of the screen is very rough on the eyes, and the mechanism is very loud and feels easy to break. Still neat, but not really user friendly.

Thank you so much for your video! 💕 I first saw these on japan you want, but preordered on amazon japan because they don’t charge me until it ships (and the duties and taxes are cheaper) I had no idea it was now on amazon US for that price. It was 59$ cad plus 30$ shipping and duties and taxes (on amazon japan) It would have cost me 90$. I looked on amazon in the USA and even after the currency conversion plus shipping its waaaaaaay cheaper. The more videos I see on it the less sure I was about the pet. (At least for 90$ lol) When I preordered in japan there wasn’t a lot of info at the time. You just saved me from spending extra when I didn’t have to. I know you got stuck with a higher price. I hope saving us makes that sting a bit less.
