Bix3 Urgent Attention - Glue your wing spar!

I found my wing spar tube loose! Had I flown it much further I would have destroyed my plane! I used 5 min epoxy to fill the space above the wing spar and followed with clear tape

Thanks for this tip. I took my Bix3 out for its first flight today and put it through some pretty stressful flying. I just saw this video and checked my wing --- sure enough my spar is loose on one side, too.

had to do this after the maiden flight also. it had moved a bit. took them both out completely and they where held in by the smallest amount of glue. I put the epoxy on the wing first then pushed the rods in then covered with more. probably the strongest part of the plane now lol top tip! keep em coming.

Quiktip: Turn the Rod to make sure the Epoxy is everywhere or remove the rod and epoxy it.

I watched your video whilst mine was on order. I put it together today, and came across a similar issue. However, mine was due to the aluminium spar. I just could not get it to go into the spar tube - used lots of WD40 but then of course whilst pushing with some force one spar tube came out completely, and the other one split!! I was always going to glue them after watching your video, but didn't expect to have to do it because the spar! I've seen other videos where the spar goes in with very little effort - I must have had a duff one! Cheers Stuart

I received my bix3 last week and it has the same problem with the wing spar. It's almost impossible to get it to go into the carbon tubes. Finally one of the tubes peeled of the wing... so, yes, I'll have to glue it too... And by the way hobbyking didn't answer to my RMA ticket...

I found this out as well after my maiden flight; also, on mine the pushrod guide tubes were held in place only by the decals on the side and may need some tape/glue to keep them from separating form the airframe. Great little aircraft once the Beta testing is done ;-)

Hi. Saw this video before assembly of my Bix3. My violent maiden in strong wind is done, and I´ve seen some flexing and weird sounds with faster elevator usage, and I believe so, it was from the part you comment on. But I also read that epoxy glue is not good one to use for EPO foam. Where is the truth? I sank it all into CA glue and then after it dried, I put epoxy on top of that. Great amount. Hope it will hold....

+CrashPCcz I learned this fact afterwards, Goop would have been better, however the epoxy held up great!

ATTENTION DO NOT use a hot glue gun in this area ,as the heat will shrink the plastic which will make it almost impossible to insert the aluminum wing tube. I know because I did it.

I'm slightly confused with the wings. Do I glue them together or not? What do most people do? Do you glue them together and transport the plane as a single wing and the body separate or do you take apart wing and do 3 pieces? Busy building mine now. Thanks. No manual which is a pain.

Do not glue your wings together! I will be a pain to transport! I have my bix in 3 pieces, the two wing halves and the fuse

Ok, What is the tiny rubber cup called ? a dapper dish? and who sells them and the tiny metel spatula? Its the small things that are hard to find. I have been using popsicle sticks and a piece of cardboard. I like your method better though! :)

Dappen dish -you don't need it, just tape a piece of plastic to the table and mix with a popcicle stick

I got Bix3 and mine is not loose but good tip just in case. I have also glued my wings together at the seam so if the clasp does give wings stay together. There is no real reason to take the wings apart all the time for me anyway.

A decent tip allthough you contaminated the epoxy by mixing vaseline in your cup! Cleanliness will drastically improve adhesion chief!!

The amount I use is so minimal I don't think it will affect the bond strength. I've been using this method for a long time

After applying the epoxy gently go over the area with a hair dryer or such and it will slither right down under the tube. Not too hot though. Am sure a lot of people will appreciate your video because this could end in disaster.
