@AngryKittens2 жыл бұрын
@@efrans2627 It is Filipino-DERIVED. You do realize that Guam was a part of the Spanish Philippines for 300 years right? Before Americans separated it? We're both descendants of the Austronesian people with Spanish influences that became American colonies that were then invaded by Japan before being liberated again, we're literally the most similar people in all of the Asia-Pacific. The only historical difference is that the Philippines became independent, while Guam remained part of the US. Even our names are the same: English first names, Spanish last names. Palau and Yap as well, were formerly similar, also formerly part of the Spanish Philippines, but they went through a longer period under Japan. Chamorro Filipino-derived dishes have developed their own uniqueness in the 100 years of separation and the isolation during Spanish colonial times (mainly because Guam grew corn more than rice, and had more seafood than meat), but you can still clearly see where they came from. Other examples of Chamorro dishes derived from Filipino dishes (most of these are 80% to 100% identical). Kalamai is from Filipino Kalamay Potu is from Filipino Puto Champulado is from Champorado "Coconut candy" is from Bukayo Apigigi' is from Tupig Bunelos is from Buñuelos Madoya is from Maruya Pickled papaya/mango is from Atchara Not to mention, dishes that retained their names: siopao, lumpia, pancit bihon, arroz caldo, empanada, cassava cake, etc. Even the ubiquitous use of soy sauce and vinegar based dipping sauces with diced chilis ("finadenne") is something also mirrored in the Philippines ("sawsawan"), and in nowhere else. Same with the use of kalamanse' (calamansi in the Philippines), lalångha (dalanghita in the Philippines), mångga (mangga in the Philippines), and kangkong (kangkong in the Philippines), all of which were introduced from the Philippines and did not exist in pre-colonial times.

Guam is actually a place where Filipinos had been thrown by the Spanish who committed against government law in the year 1700's I think. Since Philippines was colonized by the Spaniards before. so no wonder why Guam has the same culture in the Philippines.
