Quick Question: Would looking at comments on either yours/someone else's business account posts count as market research? Eg- looking at the comments under McDonald's twitter posts about its food to see general response to the food it sells

not very sure, but that sounds like some form of feedback and google tells me this Market research allows a company to discover the target market and get opinions and other feedback from consumers about their interest in the product or service.
