We played SIMON SAYS in MARIO 64

We played Simon Says...but in Mario 64! Instead of your average simon says game, we are doing Toad says! A little inspiration from mario party. If you are curious as to what we use for multiplayer, it is a port known as "SM64 Ex Coop". Join my discord and maybe you can join in next time!

Since you said "The first person who jumps into the cannon is eliminated" without the Toad says, I would have assumed there was no penalty to doing so at best, or anyone who didn't jump in would be in the wrong at worst.
