120 Minutes would air on sunday nights, beyond that show, I dont remember MTV having any freeform format running late night. The playlist of videos got a bit more diverse past midnight however was never like crossing a threshold into a garden of earthly delights for the brave few that wanted something other than the loop of videos they played during the day. I may have missed the era when they did do that. I do agree though, it is great to have a source that can expose people to new things to try rather than just serving up "prepared meals". Or shows featuring Brett Michaels trying to find "love". Ugh

the music biz isn't the same anymore. A hot video won't really make your career anymore, so most don't spend that much money/effort.
@shredjward4 жыл бұрын
@@Cargo_Bay that is definitely not true, now more than ever you can reach and hook people with videos to go along with your music as it's never been *easier* to make a video and distribute it. The only problem is that with that new slope youll also notice people tend to not necessarily care about expressing something through the medium at least in the same sense Bjork did, more so just trying to hook you with hypnotic videos of lavish things or weird/trippy visuals. I think a great example of a new song with a video to go along with it that has a message if you look a little deeper than the "weird/trippy" surface of it is VERY NOISE - Igorrr, though i cant promise anyone who sees this comment will like the song itself and the video is not a live action. A cool video that is filmed with a camera that i came across recently is Fazerdaze - Lucky Girl though i cant say it necessarily expresses any message. I haven't derived one from it yet at least

"When Michel [Gondry] gets his strokes of genius and, in the video for "Army of Me", wants a dentist that's a gorilla to find a diamond in my mouth, some people call it nonsense. But it's probably the most realistic way of expressing what situation I'm in - all these people trying to take things away from me, and the gorilla finding a diamond that I don't know I have and then stealing it. "Army of Me" is so much about me actually learning that I have to defend myself. I have to stand up and fight the fucking gorilla. Once I've got the diamond and I run away with it, it becomes massive 'cos it's mine. But if the gorilla had kept it, it would have gone really tiny. That's surrealism for me"

YES, she is. Well, I know I shouldn't be so superficial. This january (or february?) I remembered : eey let's see some of those videos I saw when I was young . . . oh ooooh! During the last years I have been thinking that Naomi Watts has the cutest face I have seen. But I was wrong.

Yeah. It was on the ST for Tank Girl. Clearly it doesn't actually look like a video for whatever movie tie-in it was like some movie/videos, but the song is timeless. That synth is just so hard.
