Those damn strings. So yearning. This song will always remind me of a love I had and lost. It must be overwhelming for an artist to create music so beautiful and so touching that it can impact another individual and enchant the world inside their mind. This is true music - that which affects us and enables us to emerge through catharsis.

At the risk of being "that guy", ALL music is true music. I want to stand with you, but it seems you're putting other artists down in that what they do is not "true music". I'm sure some feel the way that you feel about Britney Spears or Missy Elliott. With that stated, this song has a very special place in my heart.

The violin part at the beginning always reminds me of those who left, I think of the distances I'll go and no matter what the ones I let close will always be remembered. I feel like something with missing fragments because of them, and yet I want to try and not fall apart. Even if it feels like the world wants nothing to do with me, I'm here despite everything.

Moments of clarity are so rare. All that matters is that who is open chested. Show me emotional respect. What is it that I have that makes me feel your pain? Like milking a stone to get you to say it... those are my favorite lines. Haha that's basically the whole song. But those are very powerful statements to me. I think people should listen to this type of music sometimes to meditate. This music makes me live in the moment.

@RyanStorey1231 Жыл бұрын
This is honestly one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking songs I've ever heard. The string arrangement and melodies capture this sense of hopeless yearning, and the lyrics perfectly capture that bittersweet "calm before the storm" feeling where you know that something tragic is about to happen but hasn't yet, so you're just languishing in this desperate false hope that you can save whatever is dying. The two lines that resonate with me the most are: 1) "Moments of clarity are so rare/I better document this/At last the view is fierce" 2) "What is it that I have that makes me feel your pain/Like milking a stone/To get you to say it"

The way the strings sounds is like pulling taffy, it stretches out as the strings swell and then recedes. I can’t remember the term, but that’s what I always think of; it’s a perfect visual representation for the sound. The way the strings sounds gives a sense of longing and wanting. Ooh…chills! ❤

idk, first time i listened to it i was sitting on the front of a boat going over fairly rough waters. watching kids up the very front jumping when we went down a wave, the parents and grandparents on the balconies drinking tea, water splashing on my face every once in a while. it all was so serene and peaceful yet so sad. never had another song communicate those feelings together before, but it did. i suppose it was written on a beach, so it kinda fit. /end

Two years later and I come back from the grave to reply! 💀 I meant that after listening and singing the song aloud, it makes me feel more emotionally calm and releases my sad tension, which makes me feel happier. Of course the music is sad, but sometimes there’s happiness in being able to have someone else be understanding of the same feelings you have felt and that you’re going to be okay (Utopia). Of course though, sometimes I just end up sad instead of happy because this song reminds me of my stubborn father. At this point, I’ve listened to almost everything Björk has put out and she’s become a major inspiration to me.

I KNOW THIS IS HERESY!!! But I strongly believe that many classical composers like, Bach, Beethoven, Handel, Mozart, had the tools of modern music, they would have used them. BJORK does, but there's something different! If you LOVE MUSIC you can detect it's not just a mastery of INSTRUMENTATION. It's a mastery of SOUNDS! Then an awareness of genres! HERE COMES THE HERESY ...SHE'S IN THEIR CATEGORY! SHE'S RIGHT UP THERE WITH THEM!!! Oh, I forgot the SENSITIVITY!

I am normally pushed away far sooner than this. I must have been broken down a lot by the world today that she allows me to stay so long. I cannot see that I will be allowed to leave soon. Repairs are being made, and still disquiet remains. I can tell you what it is you have that makes you feel my pain. I can tell you many things that people have forgotten. I studied a long time to fill my intellect with all that my instinct would need. I did not study linearly. She guided me, only to that which was of importance. More than twenty years, of pieces. Here and there. Like a jigsaw puzzle of knowledge. Strung together laterally. All of that knowledge, just opened the doorway to allow me to see you. You are so obvious, so loud, so present, but you are still not heard. I am loud and obvious, yet I am virtually invisible. This will be handy later.
