Disneyland Haunted Mansion - Madame Leota Crystal Ball (How I made one)

How I made my own version of Madame Leota Crystal Ball from Disneyland Haunted Mansion. For halloween this year, I wanted to try something different and project a new face with a new script. This crystal ball still can play Madame Leota too! There is still some work to do, but I thought I'd share my progress. It is not perfect yet by any means, but I do think it's better than the last one. I'm not sure how the Imagineers did what they did back then! I remember being so inspired by the Haunted Mansion as a kid, and it has stuck with me ever since. I hope you enjoy!

Well, I am VERY lucky that my parents provided me with the room/space! That and being a thrift shop regular have allowed my visions to manifest 😊 you should pursue your own visions! You never know what you're capable of creating until you try 😊 Sounds like you're passionate.. I bet you can create amazing things!

You did a fantastic job!! Our family went to Walt Disney World when I was little. My favorite part was The Hunted Mansion. Every year I would turn our three car garage into a different themed haunted house complete with matching home made sound effects. That year the theme was The Haunted Mansion. Back then there were no Halloween props other than crepe paper & cardboard cut outs so I made everything myself. I would have loved to have had someone as creative & talented as you by my side for Halloween season and throughout my life.

If you project a grid of dots and take a picture of the result, you could map out the distortion to figure out how to modify the video file to make it look less distorted and more realistic

This guy has a link to madame Leota from The Haunted Mansion and it is a projection of her face and her face is outline with some blue wavy lines that project off of her hair so her hair looks like it's moving. The wavy lines are blue. So you will have to have blue hair. I've been working on this project for a few days now creating one similar to yours but with Madame Leota. The video is really hard to find on KZbin

Hi!! Yes, it's actually on Amazon! If you search "clear acrylic globe", you'll find different sizes! 😊 I believe the one I used was the 16" one. And they should all come with the opening on the bottom!

I have a plexiglass round ball just like yours period And I need to cut the circle out bigger also. I didn't want to use a jigsaw so I was thinking about a Dremel would be better. What do you think?

A dremel might work! But it just depends on how thick the plexiglass is.. And if it cracks, you never know which direction it with crack.. It seems to be random. You're dremel might work! I hope it does!! Maybe a small handsaw might work too.. I haven't tried that though. Let me know how it goes! 💕
